Bratz Lash Extension Style Explained

by Michelle Rebay on Sep 03 2023
As a lash artist, I’ve worked with so many styles — doll eye, cat eye, wispy, strip lash look, you name it. But something about the Bratz Lash Style hits different. When done right, it brings out something in a client’s face that even they didn’t expect. But when done wrong? It throws off everything. Here’s the thing: Most artists think Bratz is just about heavy volume and sharp ends. It’s not. If you miss the shape, the balance, or apply it to the wrong eye shape, it’s going to look off. Let’s talk about what this style really is, what most lash artists skip, and how you can make it one of your signature looks. Promade Organized Fans, Volume Lashes, Lash Wisps, Bullet Adhesive, Incredible Retention Primer and Super Bonder are used in this set. To shop, please click here.   New to lash photo editing? We've got you covered with our Free Lash Editing Tutorial. Click here to learn more!   What Is the Bratz Lash Style? Bratz lashes are inspired by the bold, defined eye look of the Bratz dolls. The focus is on a strong, lifted outer corner with a noticeable drop in the middle. The lashes aren’t soft or blended — they’re bold, structured, and stand out. The base is dark, and the spikes are long and spaced in a way that mimics a cartoon-like strip lash look. It’s a mix of strip lash styling and a lifted liner effect. There’s volume. There’s definition. There’s clear shape. But it’s not random — every lash has a place, and when you mess up one section, the whole style loses its effect. Promade Organized Fans, Volume Lashes, Lash Wisps, Bullet Adhesive, Incredible Retention Primer and Super Bonder are used in this set. To shop, please click here.   Great for: Almond eyes Upturned eyes Big eyes with space between brow and lash line Even lids with strong bone structure Clients who already have a strong brow game or love bold makeup? They wear this style like it was made for them.   Not great for: Downturned eyes (it can make the eye look more tired) Small, hooded eyes (it closes them off even more) Eyes with very deep-set sockets (lashes get lost) You can always adjust the map — but the true Bratz shape needs space. If you try to force it on someone who doesn’t have the lid or bone structure for it, it just doesn’t land.   Why Bratz Style Is Different A lot of lash styles blend. This one doesn’t. Lash Style Main Look Best Eye Shape Bratz Lifted outer corner, dip center, visible spikes Almond, upturned, wide-set Doll Eye Longer in the middle Round, almond, small Cat Eye Short to long from inner to outer Almond, round, close-set Wispy Mix of short and long spikes Most shapes with balance Classic Follows natural lash line  Most natural eye shapes Anime Large open base, wide gaps, long spikes Big eyes, lifted brow space Wet Closed fans, pointed tips, spaced look Almond, small, close-set   Bratz is not about a soft transition. It’s about bold sections. The spikes aren’t “messy wispy.” They’re placed. There’s a method behind the spacing. It’s almost like drawing with lashes. And while other styles focus on enhancing natural shape, this one creates a whole new shape.   How to Map Bratz Lash Style (Step-by-Step) Here’s how I map mine: 1. Draw your baseline Middle of the eye: lowest point Outer corner: lifted by at least 2–3mm Inner corner: short and clean   2. Choose lengths Inner corner: 8mm–9mm Middle: 12mm–13mm Outer: 14mm–16mm Use longer spikes every 2–3 fans to give that strip lash vibe. For example:8 | 10 | 12 | 14 | 16 | 14 | 12   3. Choose curls D curl or L curl is a must Never go flat — this style needs lift   4. Add spikes first Mark your spike points on the pad. Isolate them. Then fill around them. This keeps the structure clean and visible.   * Another sample Bratz lashes mapping you can recreate *   * After * Promade Organized Fans, Volume Lashes, Lash Wisps, Bullet Adhesive, Incredible Retention Primer and Super Bonder are used in this set. To shop, please click here.   For more tips like this one be sure to subscribe to our email list, we send very informative and helpful emails every week, please click here.   How to Apply the Bratz Lash Style Start with your spikes Use closed fans or single lashes Place first, then build around them   Layer dark bases Use narrow fans to thicken the lash line Stay away from wide fans — they blend too much   Angle matters Outers should angle up Middles should go straight out Inners should curve slightly down or stay flat   Double check both sides This style is unforgiving if it’s uneven   Promade Organized Fans, Bullet Adhesive, Incredible Retention Primer, and Sensitive Nexcare Skin Tape are used in this set. To shop, please click here.   Can You Add Bottom Lashes with the Bratz Lash Style? You can add bottom lashes to match the Bratz lash style. It helps make the whole eye shape clear. Since the top lashes have a strong lift and shape, the bottom lashes help keep the eye balanced. When to Add: When the client has lower lashes you can work with When they ask for full top and bottom sets When taking photos or creating content   What to Use: Use short lengths (6–8mm) Use one-to-one lashes Apply with little glue and careful placement   How to Apply: Do bottom lashes after the top is finished. Ask the client to sit up a bit. Use tape or pads to cover the skin. Work slowly, one lash at a time. Bottom lashes grow in different ways, so isolate them well. Promade Organized Fans, Volume Lashes, Lash Wisps, Bullet Adhesive, Incredible Retention Primer, and Sensitive Nexcare Skin Tape are used in this set. To shop, please click here.   Bratz Lash Aftercare Clients need to know: Don’t brush too much — spikes can shift Avoid sleeping on your face — it bends the fans Keep lashes dry the first 24–48 hours Use oil-free products only You can give them a mini mirror and tell them to check the angle once a day. That keeps the look sharp.   For more tips like this one be sure to subscribe to our email list, we send very informative and helpful emails every week, please click here.   How to Price Bratz Lash Style Bratz style takes time. More than a classic set or even a light volume. You’re layering, building spikes, correcting angles. Set a price higher than your regular volume set. Example: Classic: $120 Volume: $160 Bratz: $180–$200 Don’t underprice it. Clients who want this look want it done right. If they know what Bratz lashes are, they know it’s not a rush job. Make sure to check the pricing in your area. What works in one location might not fit another. Set your price based on your time, product use, and local market. Promade Organized Fans, Volume Lashes, Lash Wisps, Bullet Adhesive, Incredible Retention Primer and Super Bonder are used in this set. To shop, please click here.   What About Lash Fills? Fills are tricky with Bratz style. Spikes grow out fast and lose their shape. Fills need to be booked sooner. Every 2 weeks — max Remove old spikes, don’t fill over them Rebuild the base first, then spike again Let your client know up front: this look is high maintenance. But if they love it, they’ll stick to the schedule.   Final Thoughts from a Lash Artist Bratz lash isn’t for every face. It’s not for every artist either. But when you really understand the structure, the shape, and the placement — it becomes something you can be proud of. This style teaches you precision. It forces you to be intentional with every lash you place. It’s not just about lashes. It’s about how they change the whole eye. If you haven’t tried this style on the right client yet, you’re missing out on a powerful tool in your lash toolbox.     We hope you've enjoyed reading this blog! Lash Adhesive 101: A Comprehensive Overview of Cyanoacrylate Types

by Michelle Rebay on Aug 24 2023
As a lash artist, one of the most critical elements of our job is choosing the right lash adhesive. Cyanoacrylate, a type of lash glue commonly used in the lash industry, comes in various formulations. But what exactly is the difference between different types of acrylates and cyanoacrylate adhesives?  Let's delve into this topic and gain a better understanding. Optite Low Humidity Adhesive, Elite High Humidity Adhesive, Ultra Crystal Clear Bond, Ultra Crystal Bond and Velour Adhesive are used here. To shop, please click here.   New to lash photo editing? We've got you covered with our Free Lash Editing Tutorial. Click here to learn more!   UNDERSTANDING CYANOACRYLATE AND DIFFERENT TYPES OF ACRYLATES If you're a lash artist, you need to know your adhesives. Cyanoacrylate is the go-to, but new polyacrylates are emerging. Be cautious; polyacrylates are more toxic and shouldn't be used. Cyanoacrylates come in multiple types, and their curing speed impacts how fast they dry.    Ultra Crystal Clear Bond is used here. To shop, please click here.     Viscosity Different cyanoacrylates have different thickness levels, letting you choose what's easiest for you to work with. Thicker glues are good for volume lashes, thinner ones for classic lashes.   Flexibility Some cyanoacrylates are more flexible, making for durable lash extensions that withstand daily wear and tear.   Durability Choose a cyanoacrylate that ensures a strong bond, so your clients' lashes last longer.   Resistance High-quality cyanoacrylates resist breaking and oil damage, keeping the lashes beautiful for longer.   REMEMBER: Pick the right cyanoacrylate adhesive that meets your needs for the best results.   For more tips like this one be sure to subscribe to our email list, we send very informative and helpful emails every week, please click here.   HOW IS EYELASH EXTENSION GLUE MADE? Have you ever wondered what lash glues are made of? Let's dive into the ingredients commonly found in lash adhesives and gain a better understanding of their composition. Velour Adhesive is used here. To shop, please click here.   Most lash glues have cyanoacrylate as their main ingredient. Additives like hydroquinone prevent it from hardening in the bottle. Some also have PMMA for strength and carbon black for color.   How It's Made Ingredients are mixed in steps, but only the final ones need to be listed. Hydroquinone, now banned, used to be included but isn't listed anymore.   Other Ingredients Less common additives include silica, a safer alternative to PMMA, and latex, which is now rarely used.   REMEMBER: Choose a lash glue from trusted manufacturers or lash brands that follow regulations. Always prioritize safety and quality in your professional lash work.   For more tips like this one be sure to subscribe to our email list, we send very informative and helpful emails every week, please click here.   IS ALL CYANOACRYLATE THE SAME? No, there are different types, and each has its own pros and cons: Ultra Crystal Bond is used in this set. To shop, please click here.   Ethyl-cyanoacrylate: Most popular, strong and flexible, long-lasting. Butyl-cyanoacrylate: Cheapest, less quality, not commonly used. Octyl-cyanoacrylate: Mainly for medical use, fewer fumes, less residue but may lack strength. Alcoxy-cyanoacrylate: Low fumes, weakest type, often mixed with others. Methyl-cyanoacrylate: Once popular, strong but less elastic than ethyl.   Understanding these can help you choose the right adhesive for your lash work.   For more tips like this one be sure to subscribe to our email list, we send very informative and helpful emails every week, please click here.   EXPOSING MISLEADING MARKETING TACTICS IN THE LASH ADHESIVE INDUSTRY As lash artists, it's key to know the facts about lash glue marketing tactics. Here's what you need to know:   Promade Loose Fans Mix, Lash Wisps, Bullet Adhesive, Incredible Retention Primer, and Super Bonder are used in this set. To shop, please click here.   Oil-Resistant vs. Oil-Proof All lash glues are oil-resistant, but that doesn't make them oil-proof. They can handle some oil, but may still break down over time.   Formaldehyde-Free All lash glues are formaldehyde-free. Formaldehyde is a by-product, not an added ingredient.   Waterproof Every lash glue is waterproof. Don't fall for this as a unique selling point. Instead, focus on quality, retention, and lash compatibility.   For more tips like this one be sure to subscribe to our email list, we send very informative and helpful emails every week, please click here.   EXPLAINED: HOW LASH ADHESIVE CREATES LASTING BONDS Lash glue works by curing, which is a process that hardens the glue to bond the lash extensions to natural lashes. It starts when the glue meets air moisture, forming a durable bond through a chemical process called polymerization. Optite Low Humidity Adhesive, Lashes and L Shape Tweezer are used here. To shop, please click here.   Key Components The main ingredient in lash glue is cyanoacrylate, a quick-acting adhesive. It reacts with moisture in the air or on the lashes, polymerizing to form a strong bond.   How Bonding Works Lash artists dip each lash extension in a small amount of glue. When the glue touches the natural lash's moisture, it starts to polymerize and creates a secure bond that lasts.   Curing Time After applying the lashes, the glue needs time to harden fully. Clients should avoid wetting their lashes initially, as moisture can weaken the bond.   Lash Adhesive Types Different glues cater to various lash techniques. Some dry faster for volume lashes, while others dry slower for more precise classic applications.     For more tips like this one be sure to subscribe to our email list, we send very informative and helpful emails every week, please click here.   UNDERSTANDING THE CALCULATION SPEED IN LASH ADHESIVES For lash artists, "curing speed" is a term you'll often hear about adhesives. So what is it? Volume Lashes, Ultra Crystal Bond, Incredible Retention Primer, Hydro-Gel Under Eye Patches, Sensitive Nexcare Skin Tape, Lash Tape, Straight Isolation Tweezer and Large Tip Book Tweezer are used in this set. To shop, please click here.   How Curing Speed is Calculated Curing speed starts counting the moment the extension touches the natural lash, not when dipped in adhesive. The bond starts forming right then, making your placement skills critical.   Timing Matters With a 1-second curing adhesive, you've got just that long to place the lash extension right. Once curing starts, adjustments are tough and can affect lash retention.   What is Curing Speed? It's the time needed for the adhesive to fully dry and bond after the extension meets the natural lash. Choose your adhesive wisely based on this.   Why Proper Application is Key Good understanding of curing speed helps you apply lashes accurately and quickly. Proper bonding and better retention depend on it.   Finding Your Speed Lash artists have their own preferred curing speeds, depending on their skills. Some want fast-curing adhesives for speed, others prefer slow for accuracy.   Impact of Environment Factors like humidity and temperature affect curing speed. Make sure your work area matches the adhesive's ideal conditions for best results.   For more tips like this one be sure to subscribe to our email list, we send very informative and helpful emails every week, please click here.   HOW LONG DOES CURING EYELASH GLUE TAKE? The importance of visually determining the curing speed of adhesive is often overlooked. However, being able to recognize when the adhesive has cured is crucial for achieving excellent retention. By understanding this, you can enhance your lash application skills and improve overall results.   Volume Lashes, Bullet Adhesive, Lash Adhesive Cure Aid and L Shape Tweezer are here. To shop, please click here.     Fresh, uncured glue looks shiny black. Once it cures, it turns dull black. Spotting this color change is crucial for getting the best results. The process helps you avoid applying semi-cured glue, which doesn't hold well. Keep an eye on the glue's color shift during application. With practice, you'll easily spot when curing is done, ensuring a strong lash bond.   PRO TIP: "Curing" means the glue dries fully by absorbing air moisture. This takes about 24 hours. That's why it's advised to avoid water right after getting lash extensions; it can mess with the curing and make your lashes last less time.   For more tips like this one be sure to subscribe to our email list, we send very informative and helpful emails every week, please click here.   UNDERSTANDING CYANOACRYLATE’S CURING PROCESS Lash adhesives contain a component called cyanoacrylate, which cures at different speeds depending on the type used. Organized Pro-made Fans, Optite Low Humidity Adhesive, Hydro-Gel Under Eye Patches, Lash Tape, Silicone Eyelash Holder Pad, Straight Isolation Tweezer and Large Tip Book Tweezer are used in this set. To shop, please click here.   In lash adhesives with ethyl-cyanoacrylate, about 90% of the curing process happens within 2 minutes. The remaining 10% can take up to 24 hours to fully cure. To speed up the curing process for the last 10%, you can use a bonder after 2 minutes after your last lash application, which makes it cure in just 3 minutes. However, it's important not to use the bonder before the initial 2-minute curing time to allow the first 90% to cure naturally.   PRO TIP: For better retention, it's recommended to use a bonder before washing the lashes after the application. Washing without it can weaken the glue bond and affect how long the lashes stay in place.   For more tips like this one be sure to subscribe to our email list, we send very informative and helpful emails every week, please click here.   MASTERING LASH RETENTION: COMBATING SHOCK POLYMERIZATION IN LASH ADHESIVE Shock polymerization, or "blooming," happens when too much moisture or harmful chemicals mix with cyanoacrylate glue. This quick reaction weakens the glue's strength and turns it white. Common causes include high room humidity, wet lashes, unwanted chemicals, or using a nano mister too close. Velour Lash Adhesive is used here. To shop, please click here.   For more tips like this one be sure to subscribe to our email list, we send very informative and helpful emails every week, please click here.   KEY FACTORS FOR CHOOSING APPROPRIATE LASH ADHESIVE FOR TECHNIQUE AND CLIENT  Picking the right lash glue is critical for great lash extensions. Here are some key factors to consider: Lashes, Glitter Galaxy Collection, Color Lashes, Incredible Retention Primer, Super Bonder, and Velour Lash Adhesive are used in this set. To shop, please click here.    Viscosity Thin glue is good for volume lashes, thick glue works for classic lashes.   Drying Time Quick-drying for fast work, slow-drying for more control (or beginners).   Bond Strength Pick glue based on how long you want the lashes to last and the client's lifestyle.   Allergies Check for client sensitivities and opt for hypoallergenic glue if needed.   Environment Consider your studio's humidity and temperature when picking glue.   PRO TIP: Keep in mind that each artist and client is different. Test different glues to find what works for your style and your client's needs. The right adhesive makes your job easier and keeps your clients happy.     For more tips like this one be sure to subscribe to our email list, we send very informative and helpful emails every week, please click here.   WRAPPING IT UP Understanding the different types of cyanoacrylate in the lash adhesive is essential for lash artists who want to achieve optimal results. Lash Bridging: The Hidden Dangers You Need To Know

by Michelle Rebay on Aug 07 2023
Lash extensions have become a popular beauty trend, offering a way to enhance the length and volume of natural lashes. Among the various techniques available, lash bridging has gained attention for its ability to fill in gaps and create a seamless lash line. However, it's important to understand the hidden dangers associated with the lash bridging technique.   New to lash photo editing? We've got you covered with our Free Lash Editing Tutorial. Click here to learn more!   In this blog post, we will explore two significant concerns: excessive weight on natural lashes and difficulties with aftercare. Additionally, we will discuss the importance of assessing the condition of your natural lashes and considering alternative methods based on lash health. Elite High Humidity Adhesive, Promade Fans XL Boxes, Eyelash Extension Ballet Slippers Tape, Hydro-Gel Under Eye Patches, Super Bonder, Mini Lash Mirror, and Incredible Retention Primer are used in this set. To shop, please click here.   WHAT IS BRIDGING LASH EXTENSIONS? Lash bridging is a lash extension technique that involves connecting two natural lashes with a horizontal extension, forming a "bridge." This bridge acts as a foundation, allowing vertical extensions to be applied on top, creating a fuller and more voluminous lash look. The technique is marketed as a convenient solution for achieving a flawless lash line by filling in gaps or sparse areas.   While lash bridging may seem like a promising technique, it's essential to be aware of the potential risks and hidden dangers it entails.  In the upcoming sections, we will explore the two significant concerns associated with lash bridging: excessive weight on natural lashes and difficulties with aftercare. By understanding these hidden dangers, you can make an informed decision about whether lash bridging is the right choice for you or if alternative techniques should be considered to safeguard your lash health.   For more tips like this one be sure to subscribe to our email list, we send very informative and helpful emails every week, please click here.   HIDDEN DANGER 1: EXCESSIVE WEIGHT ON NATURAL LASHES By understanding the impact of excessive weight on natural lashes, lash artists and clients can make more informed decisions about lash extension choices and prioritize the long-term health and integrity of client’s precious lashes. Gel Under Eye Patches, Eyelash Extension Ballet Slippers Tape, Mega Volume Lashes and Ultra Crystal Bond are used in this set. To shop, please click here.   Explanation of the weight added by extensions on the bridge Lash bridging involves attaching extensions to a bridge created by connecting two natural lashes. This technique introduces additional weight to the lashes, as the extensions placed on the bridge can be quite substantial. The combined weight of multiple extensions puts excessive strain on the two supporting lashes. Impact on natural lashes The added weight from lash bridging can have a negative impact on the natural lashes. Over time, the constant strain can weaken the lashes, making them more susceptible to breakage and premature lash loss. The weight distribution may also cause the lashes to become misaligned or develop an unnatural drooping appearance. Potential consequences (lash breakage, premature lash loss) The excessive weight imposed on the natural lashes increases the risk of lash breakage. The weakened lashes may not be able to withstand the strain, resulting in lash breakage and the potential for uneven lash lines. Furthermore, the added stress can lead to premature lash loss, leaving gaps in the lash line and undermining the desired effect of lash extensions. For more tips like this one be sure to subscribe to our email list, we send very informative and helpful emails every week, please click here.   HIDDEN DANGER 2: DIFFICULTIES WITH AFTERCARE When it comes to maintaining lash extensions, proper aftercare is essential for preserving their longevity and ensuring our lashes stay healthy and beautiful. However, certain lash extension techniques come with hidden dangers that can make aftercare a challenging task. Promade Fans, Ultra Crystal Bond, Super Bonder, and Incredible Retention Primer are used in this set. To shop, please click here.   Importance of aftercare for lash health Proper aftercare is crucial for maintaining the health and longevity of lash extensions. It involves regular cleansing, gentle brushing, and avoiding actions that could damage the lashes. Effective aftercare ensures that the lashes remain clean, untangled, and in optimal condition. Challenges faced with lash bridging during aftercare Lash bridging presents unique challenges when it comes to aftercare. The bridge created by the extensions can interfere with the brushing process. The spoolie used for brushing can get caught or tangled in the extensions, making it difficult to move smoothly through the lashes. This can cause discomfort and potential damage to both the extensions and the natural lashes. The potential damage caused by brushing and tangling Brushing is a critical step in lash maintenance as it helps to keep the lashes neat and prevents tangling. However, with lash bridging, brushing becomes more complicated and increases the risk of damage. The bridge can trap the bristles of the spoolie, leading to tugging or pulling on the lashes. This can result in discomfort, lash damage, and even dislodging of the extensions.   For more tips like this one be sure to subscribe to our email list, we send very informative and helpful emails every week, please click here.   ASSESSING THE CONDITION OF NATURAL LASHES When it comes to enhancing lashes, lash extensions have become a popular choice. These extensions can create a fuller and more voluminous lash look, elevating the overall appearance. However, it's important to remember that the health and condition of the natural lashes are crucial foundations for successful lash extensions. Lashes, Ultra Crystal Bond, Incredible Retention Primer, and Super Bonder are used in this set. To shop, please click here.   Importance of evaluating the health of natural lashes before lash bridging Before considering lash bridging, it's essential to evaluate the condition of your clients natural lashes. This assessment helps determine whether lash bridging is suitable or if alternative methods should be considered. Prioritizing lash health is crucial for achieving the desired results without compromising the integrity of the natural lashes. Identifying signs of fragile or damaged lashes Look out for signs such as thinning, brittleness, or lash breakage in the natural lashes. If the lashes are already fragile or damaged, lash bridging may worsen the condition and lead to further lash issues. Identifying these signs will help you make an informed decision about the best approach for your lashes. Considering alternative methods based on lash condition Based on the condition of your natural lashes, there are alternative lash extension techniques available that can achieve similar results without the drawbacks of lash bridging. As a lash artist, you can provide personalized recommendations, suggesting gentler methods that prioritize lash health and minimize the risk of damage, for example recommending a lash serum to your clients.   For more tips like this one be sure to subscribe to our email list, we send very informative and helpful emails every week, please click here.   CONCLUSION While lash bridging may seem like an appealing technique for achieving fuller lashes, it comes with hidden dangers that should not be overlooked. The excessive weight placed on natural lashes and the challenges faced during aftercare can compromise lash health and overall appearance. By assessing the condition of the natural lashes and considering alternative methods, you can achieve beautiful lash sets while prioritizing the long-term health and integrity of your client's lashes.     We hope you've enjoyed reading this blog! But not all spikes are created equal, and when you’re aiming for that perfect anime-style flutter, you’ve got to choose the right type. Here's the lowdown on three types of spikes – lash wisps, loose volume lashes, and bonded-tip lashes – straight from the perspective of a lash artist who loves to keep things real and simple. Lash Wisps, Volume Lashes and Wet Volume Lashes are used here. To shop, please click here.    LASH WISPS Let’s start with lash wisps. These guys are the unsung heroes for those just starting out. Why? Because they're super easy to use. You apply them just like you would a classic lash, which is great news for beginners. No fancy skills needed here – just a straightforward application, and voila, you've got that wispy volume that’s just enough to say 'anime' without going overboard. Lash Wisps, Volume Lashes, Wet Volume Lashes, and Oblong Tweezer are used here. To shop, please click here.   LOOSE VOLUME LASHES Moving on to loose volume lashes. You’ll want to grab 0.05 or 0.07 sizes – steer clear of 0.03s as they tend to get a bit too fluffy for what we’re after. When creating spikes with these, a little tip: if you use a glue aid, they won’t stay as pointed as lash wisps. So, when your client brushes through them, they'll keep a nice, defined but slightly softer spike. Perfect for that hint of anime drama without looking like they can fly away with those lashes. Lash Wisps, Volume Lashes, Wet Volume Lashes, and Oblong Tweezer are used here. To shop, please click here.   BONDED TIPS/WET LASHES Finally, let’s talk about lashes that are bonded at the tips, also known as wet lashes. These are great for creating that glossy, textured look. But here's the thing – you’ve got to be careful not to overload your client's natural lashes. It's all about balance. You want to give them that lush, full look while keeping the health of their natural lashes in check. So, apply with a light hand and watch that anime look come to life, with all the volume and none of the heaviness. Lash Wisps, Volume Lashes, Wet Volume Lashes, and Oblong Tweezer are used here. This spike will serve as the anchor, the very heart of your chunk. Within each chunk, carefully direct the shorter spikes towards the longest one. This strategic arrangement creates a visually striking effect that adds depth and dimension to your lash sets. The shorter spikes act as a support, enhancing the impact of the longest spike and bringing your client's lash look to life. Optite Low Humidity Adhesive, Lash Wisps Mixed Lengths, Lash Tape, Hydro-Gel Under Eye Patches, Super Bonder, Mini Lash Mirror, and Incredible Retention Primer are used in this set. To shop, please click here.     For more tips like this one be sure to subscribe to our email list, we send very informative and helpful emails every week, please click here.   DON’T SETTLE FOR A SINGLE LASH LENGTH - EXPERIMENT WITH MULTIPLE LENGTHS FOR YOUR CHUNKS Embrace versatility and mix it up! By incorporating different lash lengths, you can create a natural triangle shape reminiscent of captivating anime characters. To achieve this aesthetic, focus on two crucial elements: thin tips and a dense base.    Thin tips ensure that your lashes appear delicate and fluttery, capturing the essence of anime eyes.  A dense base adds volume and creates a solid foundation for the lash look. Lash Wisps, Ultra Crystal Bond, Incredible Retention Primer, Lash Tape and Hydro-Gel Under Eye Patches, are used in this set. To shop, please click here.     For more tips like this one be sure to subscribe to our email list, we send very informative and helpful emails every week, please click here.   TAKE A SMALL LEAP BY ADJUSTING YOUR SPIKES DOWN 4-5 AND WATCH YOUR ANIME LASHES COME TO LIFE This seemingly subtle change can make a world of difference in your lash artistry, instantly elevating your anime-inspired look. If you don't have the exact shorter lengths you need, don't worry! Try experimenting with different curl types.   For example, consider using a CC curl for your chunks and a C curl for the base. This clever combination creates a mesmerizing contrast that draws attention to your lash sets. Optite Low Humidity Adhesive, Lash Wisps Mixed Lengths, Lash Tape, Hydro-Gel Under Eye Patches, and Incredible Retention Primer are used in this set. To shop, please click here.     For more tips like this one be sure to subscribe to our email list, we send very informative and helpful emails every week, please click here.   EXPERIMENT WITH LOWER LASHES In anime lash style, lower lashes are often exaggerated to create a wide-eyed and captivating appearance. Incorporate bottom lashes into your repertoire to recreate this anime-inspired look. Opt for shorter lengths and softer curls to ensure a natural and balanced outcome. Lower lashes can enhance your client's eyes and add an extra touch of drama to their overall appearance. Mega Lash Box, Velour Lash Adhesive, Super Bonder, and Incredible Retention Primer are used in this set. To shop, please click here.     For more tips like this one be sure to subscribe to our email list, we send very informative and helpful emails every week, please click here.   WHO CAN BENEFIT FROM ANIME LASH EXTENSIONS? However, it's important to note that not everyone is a suitable candidate for this particular lash style. Lash Wisps, Ultra Crystal Bond, Incredible Retention Primer, and Super Bonder are used here. To shop, please click here.   Big, Round Eye Shapes Anime lashes can make round eyes appear even larger, potentially creating an exaggerated or startled look. For clients seeking a balanced and subtle appearance, explore styles that align better with their natural shape.   Naturally Close-Set Eyes Anime lashes emphasize the outer corners of the eyes, which may further highlight close-set eyes. Opt for styles that open up the eyes rather than accentuate their proximity for a harmonious result.   Preference for Natural Makeup and Attire Anime lashes are bold and dramatic, often suited to vibrant makeup styles. For clients who prefer a natural, understated look, softer lash enhancements might be a better match.     For more tips like this one be sure to subscribe to our email list, we send very informative and helpful emails every week, please click here.   Brown Anime Lash Set: A Trend Every Lash Artist Should Try In our world of lash making, there's this cool new style everyone's talking about: the brown anime lash set. Here are some key points:   Mega Lash Box, Velour Lash Adhesive, Super Bonder, and Incredible Retention Primer are used in this set. To shop, please click here.   Natural and Wispy Younger clients often desire a natural and wispy look that enhances their eyes without appearing overly dramatic. This style focuses on adding length and a soft, fluttery effect to the lashes.  Cat Eye or Doll Eye For those seeking a more playful and dramatic look, the cat eye or doll eye style is popular among young clients. This mapping technique focuses on elongating the outer corner lashes, creating an eye-opening effect. It accentuates the shape of the eyes, providing a flirty and captivating appearance.   Volume and Dramatic Some young clients prefer a bold and dramatic look that adds intensity to their eyes. The volume lash mapping technique involves applying volume lash fans to each natural lash, resulting in a full and voluminous effect. This style creates a striking, glamorous look suitable for special occasions or for those who enjoy a more dramatic appearance.   CONSIDERATION FOR YOUNG CLIENTS When it comes to lash mapping for young clients, the focus is often on creating a dramatic and eye-catching look. Here are some considerations to keep in mind:   Mega Lash Box, Velour Lash Adhesive, Super Bonder, and Incredible Retention Primer are used in this set. To shop, please click here.   Length and Volume Young clients often desire lashes that are long, voluminous, and attention-grabbing. Lash artists can utilize different lengths and thicknesses of extensions to achieve a full and glamorous effect. Customized Styles Each young client has unique preferences, so it's essential to consult and understand their desired style. Some may prefer a natural but enhanced look.     For more tips like this one be sure to subscribe to our email list, we send very informative and helpful emails every week, please click here. LASH MAPPING STYLES FOR ADULT CLIENTS When working with mature clients, it's important to consider their unique features and address specific concerns associated with aging eyes. Here are some guidelines to keep in mind: Volume Lashes, Optite Low Humidity Adhesive, Super Bonder, and Incredible Retention Primer are used in this set. To shop, please click here.   Classic Lash Extensions and Sparse Lashes Classic lashes, typically ranging from 16-25mm in length, may create a fuller look. However, it's essential to consider the condition of mature clients' natural lashes, which can often be brittle and sparse. Applying classic lashes to such lashes can result in noticeable gaps, leaving the client unsatisfied. Hence, it's important to be mindful of this potential issue and offer suitable alternatives.   Mega Volume Lashes and Brittle Lashes Mega volume lashes, known for their dramatic and voluminous appearance, maybe another option that mature clients consider. However, it's important to note that mega volume lashes may not hold well on brittle lashes. This not only affects the aesthetic outcome but can also compromise the health of the natural lashes. Therefore, it is advisable to avoid using mega volume lashes on mature clients to maintain lash health and prevent potential damage. Optimal Lengths for Mature Clients When determining the appropriate lash length for mature clients, it's essential to prioritize a natural and subtle look. Most mature clients prefer a lash extension style that mimics the effect of wearing mascara rather than an intense, party-ready look. To achieve this, it's recommended to avoid lengths exceeding 11mm, with a maximum limit of 10/11mm. By adhering to these length guidelines, you can ensure your mature clients feel confident while maintaining the health of their natural lashes.   Retention and Lash Health As a lash artist, retaining your clients is essential for a thriving business. One way to achieve this is by prioritizing the retention of lash extensions and the overall health of the natural lashes. By providing lash styles that are suitable for mature clients' needs, you can help them maintain their desired look without compromising the health of their natural lashes. This approach ensures long-term satisfaction and promotes trust between you and your clients.   For more tips like this one be sure to subscribe to our email list, we send very informative and helpful emails every week, please click here.   CONSIDERATION FOR MATURE CLIENTS As we gracefully age, it's essential to embrace our unique beauty and explore ways to enhance our features. One fantastic option gaining popularity among mature clients is lash extensions. Color Lashes, Ultra Crystal Clear Bond, Super Bonder, and Incredible Retention Primer are used in this set. To shop, please click here.   Customized Lash Mapping When considering lash extensions for mature clients, it's essential to aim for a "doll effect" or a rounded kitten look. By strategically placing lashes that create a lifting effect, we can counteract the drooping effect associated with aging. This technique visually lifts up the eyes, giving mature clients a lift and a more youthful appearance. Avoiding Damage and Dragging It's crucial to avoid certain techniques that can cause damage and further drag the eyes down. One should steer clear of the "cat effect" or use excessively long lash lengths on the inner corners. These approaches can lead to strain on the natural lashes and contribute to a less desirable appearance. Instead, opt for lash extensions that maintain a natural-looking length throughout the lash line.   Consider Brown Lashes For mature clients interested in adding some color to their lash extensions, it's best to keep it subtle and natural. Brown lashes are highly recommended, as they blend seamlessly with most natural hair colors. This choice not only looks beautiful but also ensures a realistic and refined result. Avoid going over the top with vibrant or contrasting colors, as they may appear too conspicuous on mature clients.   Embrace Volume Opt for volume lashes to achieve a soft, voluminous, and fuller lash appearance for adult clients. As much as possible handmade your volume fans to customized your client's look.   Prioritize Clear Glue For a natural look, it's generally recommended to use clear glue with adult clients, unless they have dark natural lashes. Black glue can appear noticeable and compromise the overall aesthetic of the lash set.   Consultation Before getting lash extensions, it's essential to have a consultation. This step allows you to discuss client preferences, and any concerns they may have, and ensure that you as a lash artist understand their unique needs.   Eyelash Health It's crucial to maintain the health of your client's natural lashes. If they have any pre-existing conditions such as weak or damaged lashes, you can recommend suitable alternatives or lash treatments to improve lash health before applying extensions.   Allergies and Sensitivities Some clients may have sensitivities to the adhesive used in lash extensions. As a lash artist, you should ask them about any allergies or sensitivities they have. You can also opt patch test prior to the lash application. TIP: Understanding the specific needs of adult clients when it comes to lash mapping enables you to create flattering styles that enhance their beauty while considering the effects of aging. By following these suggestions, you can help your clients achieve stunning and age-appropriate lash looks.     For more tips like this one be sure to subscribe to our email list, we send very informative and helpful emails every week, please click here.   CONCLUSION Lash mapping is a versatile technique that allows lash artists to create stunning styles for clients of all ages. By understanding the specific considerations for young and adult clients, you can tailor your lash mapping techniques to enhance natural beauty, create age-appropriate looks, and address specific concerns. Remember to communicate with your clients to ensure their desires are met while utilizing your expertise to create a beautiful lash look.     Want to Master Lash Mapping? They offer a gentle look that is easier to adjust to and get accustomed to. Professionals in conservative work environments For clients working in professional settings that require a more conservative appearance, this lash style is a suitable choice. They add a touch of elegance without drawing excessive attention. Those with shorter or sparser natural lashes: If your client has shorter or sparser natural lashes and wants to add some length and volume without an overly dramatic effect, natural wispy lashes can help. They create the illusion of fuller, longer lashes while maintaining a natural look. Everyday makeup enthusiasts: If your client prefers a more low-maintenance beauty routine and wants to wake up with effortlessly beautiful lashes, a natural wispy lash style is perfect. They eliminate the need for mascara and provide a put-together look even on makeup-free days. Events or occasions requiring a subtle yet polished look: Ideal for events or occasions where your client wants to look polished and put-together without going overboard. They provide a soft, elegant look that complements various outfits and makeup styles. If your client is a fan of lash extensions but prefers a more natural look, natural wispy lash extensions offer a delightful alternative. They maintain the beauty and convenience of extensions while achieving a softer and more subtle appearance.   WHO SHOULD AVOID NATURAL WISPY LASH MAPPING? As a lash artist, I believe in creating stunning lash looks that enhance your client's natural beauty. While mega volume lash mapping has gained popularity for its bold and voluminous effect, it's important to understand that this style may not be suitable for everyone.   Clients with damaged, sparse or very fine natural lashes: This lash style is designed to enhance the existing lashes. If your client has extremely sparse or fine lashes, it might be challenging to achieve the desired wispy effect, as there may not be enough natural lashes to work with. Active clients or athletes: If your client leads an active lifestyle or participates in sports that involve excessive sweating, frequent contact with water, or physical activities, natural wispy lashes might not be the best option. The added maintenance required to keep the lashes intact and the risk of premature shedding due to excessive moisture or friction could make them less practical. Those seeking a bold or dramatic look: Wispy lashes are intended to create a softer, more natural appearance. If your client prefers a bold, glamorous, or highly voluminous lash look, this style may not fulfill your client's desired aesthetic. Other lash extension styles like dramatic volume or hybrid lashes might be better suited for achieving a more intense effect.     Interested in natural wispy lash extensions? The Truth About Premade Lash Fan: Evolution and Impact in the Lash Industry

by Michelle Rebay on Jul 03 2023
Premade lash fans have been a topic of discussion among lash artists, with differing opinions on their evolution and impact in the industry. Exploring the concerns and misconceptions surrounding premade fans is essential for lash professionals. While some may worry about the quality and durability of premade fans, advancements in manufacturing techniques have led to the creation of high-quality fans that are virtually indistinguishable from handmade fans. This provides lash artists with a time-saving option without compromising on the final look. Promade Lash Fans, Hydro-Gel Under Eye Patches, Incredible Retention Primer, Lash Extension Medical Tape, L Shape Tweezer and Large Tip Boot Lash Tweezer are used in this set. To shop, please click here.     New to lash photo editing? We've got you covered with our Free Lash Editing Tutorial. Click here to learn more!   In this blog post, we aim to uncover the truth behind premade lash fans, exploring their evolution, advancements, and the impact they have made in the world of lash extensions. By shedding light on the subject, we can make informed decisions as lash artists and deliver exceptional results to our clients. Straight Isolation Tweezer, Precision Volume 90 Degree Tweezer, Hydro-gel Under Eye Patches, Ultra Crystal Bond are used in this set. Whether they come on strips or loose, premade fans and promade fans are manufactured in exactly the same way. It's time to debunk the misconceptions surrounding the manufacturing process of these two fan types.   One common misconception is that premade fans are solely machine-made, while promade fans are handmade. However, this is far from the truth. Both premade and promade fans are carefully handcrafted by lash professionals or manufacturers using specific tools and techniques.  The only involvement of a machine in the process is the use of an oven for curling the lashes.   Promade Fans, Ultra Crystal Bond, Super Bonder, and Incredible Retention Primer are used in this set. However, the old-style premade lash fans with square, boxy bases posed significant challenges in achieving this objective. Due to their thicker bases, premade fans often created an obvious demarcation line between the natural lashes and the extensions. This made it difficult to achieve a natural look and resulted in a harsh, unnatural appearance. The lack of flexibility also made it challenging to mimic the natural lash curl, leading to a less realistic outcome.   The old-style premade lash fans with square, boxy bases were once a popular choice in the world of eyelash extensions. However, their limitations and criticisms have paved the way for more advanced techniques that prioritize a natural lash look. Lash artists today have access to a wide range of options, including handmade volume fans, which offer greater customization, flexibility, and more seamless integration with the client's natural lashes.     For more tips like this one be sure to subscribe to our email list, we send very informative and helpful emails every week, please click here.   EVOLUTION OF PREMADE FANS TECHNIQUES The evolution of premade fans in the lash industry has been truly remarkable. Advancements in technology have paved the way for innovative features in modern premade fans. These fans are now crafted with precision and offer enhanced flexibility, making them easier to apply and achieve natural looking results. One notable improvement is the development of thinner bases, which provide a seamless blend with natural lashes. Premade Fans, Bullet Lash Adhesive, Super Bonder, and Incredible Retention Primer are used in this set. To shop, please click here.   Moreover, lash artists now have access to a wider variety of curls, lengths, and diameters, allowing for greater customization and the ability to create unique lash sets tailored to each client. The evolution of premade fans has revolutionized the lash industry, making it easier than ever to achieve beautiful, voluminous lashes with precision and efficiency.     For more tips like this one be sure to subscribe to our email list, we send very informative and helpful emails every week, please click here.   PRIORITIZING THE BEST EXPERIENCE FOR CLIENTS Providing clients with the best experience is the key to success. Clients not only desire beautiful and long-lasting results but also expect comfort and efficiency during the application process.  In recent years, the use of premade fans has gained popularity among lash technicians as a means to prioritize the best experience for clients. Here are the benefits of using premade lash fans  (TAKE NOTE: If you buy from a brand and notice that their premade have narrow bases that look like they've been pinched, it means they are using advanced methods for making them)   Premade Fans, Bullet Lash Adhesive, Super Bonder, and Incredible Retention Primer are used in this set. To shop, please click here.   Time Efficiency: One of the primary advantages of using premade fans is the significant time savings they offer. As lash technicians, we understand the importance of optimizing our clients' time. Premade fans eliminate the need for hand-making fans, allowing us to work faster and complete lash extension applications more efficiently. This time-saving aspect not only benefits the technician but also ensures a smooth and comfortable experience for the client.   Consistency in Quality: Consistency is key when it comes to delivering the best experience for clients. Premade fans are carefully crafted and manufactured to maintain a uniform appearance and quality. Each fan is precisely created with the ideal amount of lashes, ensuring a consistent and flawless result for every client. This reliability enhances the overall satisfaction of clients and builds trust in your expertise.   Improved Comfort: Clients' comfort is paramount when providing lash extension services. Premade fans are designed with lightweight materials that are gentle on the natural lashes, minimizing any discomfort or heaviness. These fans are made to feel natural and seamless, allowing clients to enjoy their lash extensions without any irritation. Versatility and Customization: While premade fans offer uniformity, they also provide room for creativity and customization. Lash technicians can still personalize the extensions according to each client's preferences by selecting different fan styles, lengths, and curls. This versatility allows you to tailor the lash extensions to suit each client's unique eye shape.     For more tips like this one be sure to subscribe to our email list, we send very informative and helpful emails every week, please click here.   UNDERSTANDING THE BASICS OF VOLUME LASH FANS Have you ever come across terms like "premades," "handmades," or "promades" while exploring the world of eyelash extensions? If you're feeling a little confused, don't worry! We're here to break down these terms and help you understand what they actually mean.Premades refer to fans that are pre-made in a factory by individuals, typically in large quantities. These premade fans are then shipped directly to lash distributors or companies, who sell them to professional lash artists. Premades offer convenience, as they are ready-made and save time during the lash application process.   Straight Isolation Tweezer, Precision Volume 90 Degree Tweezer, Hydro-gel Under Eye Patches, Ultra Crystal Bond and Premade Fans are used in this set. To shop, please click here.   On the other hand, handmade are fans that are created by the lash artist during the actual appointment. Handmade volume fans provide the lash artist with more control and customization options, allowing them to tailor the extensions specific to the client's desired look. Volume Lashes, Large Tip Boot Lash Tweezer, Optite Low Humidity Adhesive, Hydro-Gel Under Eye Patches, Eyelash Extension Ballet Slippers Tape and Sensitive Nexcare Skin Tape are used in this set. To shop, please click here.   During a lash appointment, a lash artist may create fans by hand just like in the previous scenario. However, with promades, there's an additional step. After the fans are made, the lash artist seals the base of each fan using glue. This process is called crystallizing. The promades can then be stored for later use on another client, maintaining their shape and quality until they're needed.   Pro-made Loose Single Lashes, Bio Gel Eye Patches, Velour Lash Adhesive, Incredible Retention Primer, Nude 90 Degree Isolation Lash Extension Tweezer, and Super Bonder are used in this set. To shop, please click here.     For more tips like this one be sure to subscribe to our email list, we send very informative and helpful emails every week, please click here.   WHO BENEFITS FROM USING PREMADE FANS? Using premade fans is beneficial for both professional lash artists and their clients. Premade Fans, Hydro-gel Under Eye Patches, Ultra Crystal Bond, Super Bonder, and Incredible Retention Primer are used in this set. To shop, please click here.   Lash artists who prioritize efficiency and time management in their appointments. Lash artists who are new to the lash industry and are still developing their hand-made fan skills. Lash artists prefer consistency in their lash applications, as premade volume fans are mass-produced and offer uniformity. Those who work in high-volume lash salons or have a large client base need to streamline their process. Lash artists who want to offer volume lashes but may not have the experience or confidence to create handmade fans yet. Lash artists who are looking to save time during their lash appointments and increase their productivity.     For more tips like this one be sure to subscribe to our email list, we send very informative and helpful emails every week, please click here.   KEY TAKEAWAYS Premade lash fans have evolved significantly, addressing previous criticisms of boxy bases and limited natural look. Modern premade fans now offer thinner bases and a wider range of options, allowing lash artists to cater to individual client needs. Informed decision-making is crucial for lash artists, including staying updated on industry developments to use the best tools available.  Providing the best experience for clients is a priority, with lash extensions looking and feeling good while lasting. Embracing advancements in the industry and continuously educating ourselves allows for growth and exceptional results as lash artists.       We hope you've enjoyed reading this blog! This creates a dense, full look that stands out. Mega Volume is popular for special occasions, photo shoots, or for clients who want their lashes to be the main focus. Neon Color Lashes, Velour Lash Adhesive, Incredible Retention Primer, Super Bonder and Promade Fans are used in this set. If a client is a lash extension lover and has already tried classic or volume lashes, mega volume lashes can take their lash game to the next level.   Neon Color Lashes, Velour Lash Adhesive, Incredible Retention Primer, Super Bonder and Promade Fans are used in this set. To shop, please click here.   NOT SUITABLE FOR: Clients who prefer a more natural look or want to achieve a subtle enhancement, mega volume lashes may not be the best option. This lash style is designed to create a bold and noticeable effect and may overpower a softer, more natural style. Clients with sensitive eyes or skin may find mega volume lashes uncomfortable or irritating. Clients with delicate/weak/damaged natural lashes, mega volume lash extensions may put additional stress on them. The extra weight and volume can potentially damage or weaken the existing lashes. Budget-conscious clients. Mega volume can be a pricier option compared to other lash styles due to the higher volume and complexity of the application process. This creates a layered look with both length and fullness. Hybrid lashes are a flexible option for clients who want a noticeable lift and volume without looking too dramatic. YY Brown Lashes, Ultra Crystal Bond, Super Bonder, and Incredible Retention Primer are used in this set. To shop, please click here.   SUITABLE FOR: Clients with thin or sparse (not damaged) natural lashes as they provide a fuller and more voluminous appearance. The combination of classic and volume lashes creates a natural yet glamorous look, giving the illusion of thicker lashes. Clients who desire a versatile look. Hybrid lashes offer a balance between natural and dramatic.  Clients want a lash style that is neither too subtle nor overly dramatic, hybrid lashes are the perfect choice. They provide a blend of length, volume, and texture, enhancing the client's natural beauty while still making a statement.    YY Brown Lashes, Ultra Crystal Bond, Super Bonder, and Incredible Retention Primer are used in this set. To shop, please click here.   NOT SUITABLE FOR: If a client has extremely damaged natural lashes, hybrid lashes may not be the best choice. The weight of the volume lashes combined with the classic lashes can strain delicate natural lashes and potentially cause damage. In such cases, the lash artist might recommend other lash styles, like classic or light volume, that are gentler on the natural lashes. Clients looking for a more natural look. Hybrid lashes tend to create a more dramatic effect compared to classic lashes alone.  Clients prefer a subtle and natural look (hybrid lashes may not be the most suitable option). Instead, the lash artist can recommend classic lashes, which provide a softer and more natural enhancement. Clients who love fashion runway or photoshoots: For fashion-forward clients or models, anime lashes can be a captivating addition, enhancing the overall visual impact of their look.   Optite Low Humidity Adhesive, Lash Wisps Mixed Lengths, Super Bonder, and Incredible Retention Primer are used in this set. To shop, please click here.   NOT SUITABLE FOR: Clients who are natural makeup enthusiasts. If your client prefers a more subtle and natural appearance, anime lashes might be too dramatic for their taste. Anime lashes are generally better suited for special occasions rather than daily wear due to their intense and attention-grabbing nature. Following these steps helps you pick a style that fits their eye shape, natural lashes, and overall look while making their eyes stand out naturally.       Step 1: Discover their Eye Shape Begin by identifying your client's eye shape. Whether they have almond-shaped eyes, hooded lids, or monolids, understanding their eye shape will help you determine the most flattering lash design that accentuates their natural eye contours.   Step 2: Determine their Eye Size Next, assess the size of their eyes. Are they big and expressive, or smaller and delicate? This step helps you gauge the appropriate lash length and volume to enhance the overall appearance of their eyes.   Step 3: Consider Eye Proportion Consider the proportion of your client's eyes in relation to their face. Do they have closer-set eyes, wider-set eyes, or average spacing? By analyzing their eye proportion, you can select lash styles that create the illusion of balanced and harmonious facial features.   Step 4: Analyze Eye Structure Evaluate the unique structure of your client's eyes. Do they have deep-set eyes, protruding eyes, or prominent eyelids? Understanding their eye structure enables you to choose lash designs that can bring out the best features of their eyes and create a captivating look.   Step 5: Study Lash Growth Direction Lastly, observe the natural growth direction of their lashes. Are they straight, curved, or have a particular pattern? This step is crucial in determining the lash curl and direction that will seamlessly blend with their natural lashes, ensuring a flawless and cohesive lash extension application.   By following these five steps, you, as a skilled lash artist, can tailor the perfect lash style for each individual client. Remember, every person is unique, and embracing their distinctive features will result in a stunning and personalized eyelash extension look that will leave them feeling confident and beautiful.   BOTTOM LINE As a lash artist, I understand the importance of choosing the right lash extension style that complements your client's unique features and personal style. Whether they prefer the timeless elegance of Classic lashes, the voluminous appeal of Russian Volume and Mega Volume lashes, the versatility of Hybrid lashes, or the whimsical charm of Anime lashes, there is a style that will make their eyes shine.     We hope you've enjoyed reading this blog! So, let's dive into the dos and don'ts of lash extension aftercare! Pro-made Loose Mix Lashes, Velour Lash Adhesive, Incredible Retention Primer, Super Bonder and Moisturing Lip Mask are used in this set. To shop, please click here.   DO: Keep the lashes dry for the first 24-48 hours after application to allow the lash adhesive to cure fully. Gently cleanse the lashes daily with a lash safe cleanser to remove any makeup, oil, or debris that may accumulate. Brush the lashes regularly with a clean spoolie brush to prevent tangling and ensure proper alignment. Be gentle with the lashes, and avoid rubbing or pulling them. Use oil-free makeup and skincare products around the eyes to prevent the breakdown of the adhesive. Schedule regular refills to maintain the fullness and volume of the lash extensions.   DON'T: Get the lashes wet or expose them to steam for 24-48 hours after application. Use oil-based products or makeup removers around the eyes, as they can break down the adhesive and cause premature lash loss. Rub or pull your lashes, which can damage the natural lashes and cause premature shedding. Use mascara or lash curlers on the extensions, which can weigh them down and cause damage. Sleep on your face or with the lashes pressed against the pillow, as this can cause tangling and damage to the extensions. We recommend using Mulberry Silk Lash Mask to protect the eyelash extensions while sleeping.   EXPERT TIPS FOR BETTER LASH RETENTION As a lash artist, one of the most important things you want for your clients is longer retention. A longer retention period means happier clients and more repeat business. However, achieving this requires a lot of effort and care. Here are some lash tips that can help you improve your client's retention: Mega Lash Box, Velour Lash Adhesive, Super Bonder, and Incredible Retention Primer are used in this set. To shop, please click here.   Properly clean the natural lashes One of the most important preparations is ensuring they are thoroughly clean. Dirt, oil, and makeup residues can cause the glue to break down faster, leading to shorter retention periods. Make sure to use a lash foam shampoo or cleanser specifically formulated for lash extensions to clean the natural lashes before starting the application process.   Use high-quality products Using high-quality lash products can make a significant difference in lash retention. Cheap or low-quality products can be harsh on the natural lashes, causing them to break or fall out faster. Invest in high-quality lashes, adhesives, and other products to ensure longer-lasting lashes.   Be mindful of humidity and temperature Your work environment can impact the retention of your client's lashes. Humidity and temperature can affect the adhesive's curing time, and too much humidity can cause the adhesive to break down faster. To ensure the adhesive has enough time to cure correctly, maintain a humidity level of around 50% and a temperature between 65-75 degrees Fahrenheit.   Proper isolation Proper isolation is another essential factor in lash retention. Isolating each natural lash correctly and applying the extension to it ensures that it will not pull or weigh down any other lashes, causing them to fall off earlier than necessary.   Educate your clients Educating your clients about proper eyelash extension aftercare can go a long way in improving retention. Let them know what they should and shouldn't do, such as avoiding oil-based products and not rubbing their eyes, especially during the first 24-48 hours after application. Also, tell them how often they should come for infills to maintain their lashes.   Use a good adhesive The adhesive is the most crucial product in lash retention. Using a high-quality adhesive and properly curing it can make a huge difference in retention. Ensure you're using a suitable adhesive for your client's natural lashes and the environment you're working in. REMEMBER: Longer lash retention is essential for client satisfaction and repeat business. Properly cleaning the natural lashes, using high-quality products, being mindful of humidity and temperature, proper isolation, educating your clients, and using a good adhesive can all help improve retention.  Lashes, Glittery Lash Extensions, Color Lashes, Incredible Retention Primer, Super Bonder, and Velour Lash Adhesive are used in this set. Wet volume lashes refer to a lash extension style that replicates the appearance of volume lashes with a fresh-out-of-the-shower effect. Unlike traditional volume lash style that feature open, fanned-out extensions, the wet volume style gives the illusion of closed volume fans, as if they were still wet and slightly clumped together. It's a trendy and alluring look that adds a touch of drama to your client's eyes.    Mega Lash Box, Velour Lash Adhesive, Super Bonder, and Incredible Retention Primer are used in this set. Wet look lashes are a captivating lash style that offers a bolder and more dramatic appearance compared to regular lashes. Unlike classic lash extensions, wet look lashes involve the application of multiple extensions (closed fans) to each natural lash, creating a darker and thicker look. Instead of one extension per lash, two or three extensions (closed fans) are carefully applied, resulting in a stunning and intensified lash line. This technique enhances the overall density and depth of the lashes, making them stand out with a wet and glamorous effect.   Mega Lash Box, Velour Lash Adhesive, Super Bonder, and Incredible Retention Primer are used in this set. To shop, please click here.   For more tips like this one be sure to subscribe to our email list, we send very informative and helpful emails every week, please click here.   THE NEWEST CRAZE IN THE LASH INDUSTRY For those of you who love to be a trendsetter, we have something just for you. We know what you're thinking: "What's a 'Mega Volume Lash Wet Look'?" Well, it's the latest trend in the beauty world. And we're here to help you get on board with it! Mega volume wet sets are all the rage, and they're no different from any other kind of volume set—except for one thing: they have a wet look to them. Mega Lash Box, Velour Lash Adhesive, Super Bonder, and Incredible Retention Primer are used in this set. To shop, please click here.   Wet look lashes are created using lighter lashes to create narrow, closed fans, which should be applied to single natural lashes to achieve the desired effect. If you want to add extra oomph and pop to your client's eyes, you must look no further than the wet look. The wet lash style is a signature look that has been popular with celebrities and makeup artists alike. It's a lashing technique that can give any look an added boost of glamor and sophistication. The wet look involves applying lash extensions to one natural lash, creating a dramatic effect that will turn heads! Mega Lash Box, Velour Lash Adhesive, Incredible Retention Primer, Sensitive Nexcare Tape, Eyelash Extension Ballet Slippers Tape and Hydro-Gel Under Eye Patches are used in this set. To shop, please click here.   First, you must create the perfect Wet Look Lash set. This is easy – follow these steps!   The most important thing is to use narrow, almost closed volume fans.  Here's how: First, apply the glue aid to the base and run it through the lashes. Wipe the whole lash line with a tiny micro-swab.  Take your lash tweezer and pull just where each slight indentation is visible. There's a crack through which you could reach and pull out. Place the lash on top of the flower cup. It's as easy as that to get a wet lash effect. You're crystallising by dipping it in the adhesive and sliding it through the flower cup. It will harden and keep its shape, so when you want to put it on the natural lashes, dip it in a small amount of glue and place it on the natural lashes, this will keep it closed.    The second is choosing the right curl. There are several options, with C, and D lashes being the most popular choice.    Third, the lash style requires applying two or more extensions to one natural lash (almost closed fans). It is essential to use lighter weights like 0.03 and 0.05 to protect your client's natural lash.   To learn more about wet lash style, please click here.   For more tips like this one be sure to subscribe to our email list, we send very informative and helpful emails every week, please click here.   BEST SUITED FOR MEGA VOLUME WET LOOK Are you looking for a way to amp up your eyelash game? If so, consider getting a wet look. We're not talking about just a little wetness—we're talking about full-on wetness. Wet looks are becoming popular in beauty because they allow you to create the most dramatic effect possible with your eyelashes. It's all about volume! But what if your client has naturally short or medium-length natural lashes? Or you've never even thought about wearing extensions before. Let's see who is best suited for a mega volume wet look. Mega Lash Box, Velour Lash Adhesive, Super Bonder, and Incredible Retention Primer are used in this set. To shop, please click here.   Clients with close-set eye shapes: This type of lash style is suitable for people with close-set eye shapes because it will not lengthen their eyes too much, which can make them appear longer than they are! Clients with healthy natural lashes: These people will suit mega volume wet lashes well because they are thick and long enough to hold the extensions in place. It's also perfect for clients with medium to full natural lashes.   For more tips like this one be sure to subscribe to our email list, we send very informative and helpful emails every week, please click here.   NOT SUITED FOR MEGA VOLUME WET LOOK The technique used when applying these lashes is crucial for achieving the best possible results. The correct technique will help you achieve the most dramatic effect while keeping your natural lash line intact. But it's not for everyone. Here's why! Mega Lash Box, Velour Lash Adhesive, Super Bonder, and Incredible Retention Primer are used in this set. To shop, please click here.   Natural lashes that grow unevenly - The weight of the extensions will make them droop, which can be uncomfortable for your clients. Curly natural lashes - These extensions will become extremely fragile when applied with wet lashes and more prone to breakage. Also, if your client's natural lashes are all over the place, they won't play nicely with each other.   For more tips like this one be sure to subscribe to our email list, we send very informative and helpful emails every week, please click here.   WHY CHOOSE MEGA VOLUME LASHES IN WET LASH STYLE? Unmatched Drama: If your client wants to make a statement, look no further. This lash style creates a level of drama that is simply unmatched. The dense, voluminous lash line combined with the glossy wet look creates an eye-catching effect that commands attention.Sultry Elegance: The wet lash effect adds a touch of sultry elegance to any look. Whether your client is preparing for a special occasion or simply wants to feel extra glamorous, this lash style will deliver. It's the perfect way to elevate their natural beauty and enhance their confidence.Versatility at Its Finest: One of the greatest advantages of this look is its versatility. It can be tailored to suit different eye shapes, personal preferences, and desired levels of intensity. From a more natural and defined look to a bold and striking effect, the possibilities are endless. Mega Lash Box, Velour Lash Adhesive, Super Bonder, and Incredible Retention Primer are used in this set. Refine your skills to achieve consistent and uniform lashes, ensuring a cohesive wet mascara look. Natural Wispy Lash Extensions: The Best of Both Worlds

by Michelle Rebay on May 21 2023
Clients often ask us,“Can I get lashes that look like my own, just a bit better?” That’s where natural wispy lash extensions come in. This lash style gives the in-between look. Not too bold. Not too bare. It works for many eye shapes and fits both everyday and special occasions. In this post, we’re sharing what wispy lashes really are, how we create them, and some lash maps you can use if you’re a lash artist or just curious. Promade Fans,Lash Wisps, Optite Low Humidity Adhesive, Super Bonder, and Incredible Retention Primer are used in this set. To shop, please click here.   New to lash photo editing? We've got you covered with our Free Lash Editing Tutorial. Click here to learn more!   What Are Natural Wispy Lash Extensions Wispy lashes are a mix of different lash lengths placed across the lash line. We use shorter lashes as the base, and place a few longer lashes in between to break up the line. This makes the lashes look more like how natural lashes grow — not all the same size. They don’t give a full or stacked look like volume sets. And they’re not as basic as classic lashes. They sit somewhere in the middle. A balanced choice. Promade Fans, Lash Wisps, Optite Low Humidity Adhesive, Super Bonder, and Incredible Retention Primer are used in this set. To shop, please click here.   Do Wispy Lashes Look Natural? Yes. Wispy lashes can look natural, especially when we use soft curls and follow the natural eye shape. The key is to not overdo it. We map them based on the natural lashes. That means we match the curl, size, and direction to the clients natural lashes. This helps the extensions blend in without looking too sharp or too bold.   Is Wispy the Same as Hybrid? Not exactly. Let’s break it down: Style What It Means Classic One lash per natural lash Volume Fans with 2–6 lashes per natural lash Hybrid Mix of classic + volume  Wispy Mixed lengths + spikes (any set type)   Wispy is not a type like classic or volume — it’s a look. We can create a wispy look using classic, volume, or hybrid methods. So technically, you can have wispy hybrid, wispy volume, or even wispy classic if mapped that way.   For more tips like this one be sure to subscribe to our email list, we send very informative and helpful emails every week, please click here.   Why Clients Like Wispy Lash Extensions Most clients who ask for wispy want: Lashes that stand out but don’t feel heavy Something they can wear every day A set that still looks okay as it grows out A middle option between bold and basic We recommend wispy styles for new clients, people who wear light makeup, or anyone who wants lashes to match casual and dressy days. Velour Lash Adhesive, Promade Fans and Lash Wisps are used in this set. To shop, please click here.   How We Build a Natural Wispy Set We start by looking at: Natural lash length Lash curl Eye shape Lash direction Eye spacing (wide, close, balanced) Then we make a lash map. The lashes are placed in different lengths — not in one flat line. This keeps the lashes soft and gives them movement across the eye. Hydro-Gel Under Eye Patches, Lash Tape, Incredible Retention Primer, Silicone Extra Sensitive Tape, Velour Lash Adhesive and Lash Wisps Mixed Lengths are used in this set. Lash Styling Secrets For Hooded Eyes: Your Go-To-Guide

by Michelle Rebay on May 19 2023
Do lash extensions work with hooded eyes? What size lashes are best for hooded eyes? Understanding the unique characteristics of different eye shapes is crucial for achieving stunning results. Hooded eyes have distinct features requiring special attention and techniques. As a lash artist, I'm here to share some insider lash tips and tricks to help you enhance and showcase the natural beauty of eyelash extensions for Asian hooded eyes. This client has hooded eyes, correct styling will be very important in order to achieve a lifting effect.    New to lash photo editing? We've got you covered with our Free Lash Editing Tutorial. Click here to learn more!   Lash styling is an art form that allows lash artists to enhance and accentuate the natural beauty of their client's eyes. Specific techniques and considerations can make all the difference in achieving stunning lash looks. In this guide, we'll uncover some valuable secrets and tips for lash styling with eyelash extensions explicitly tailored for hooded eyes. Let's dive in! CLASSI SET:❌ Classic Lashes, Elite High Humidity Adhesive, Incredible Retention Primer and Super Bonder are used in this set. To shop, please click here.   VOLUME SET✅: Dark Brown Color Lashes, Ultra Crystal Clear Bond, Incredible Retention Primer and Super Bonder are used in this set. To shop, please click here.   UNDERSTANDING HOODED EYES These eye shapes require careful attention and precise lash placement to create the illusion of depth, lift, and definition. With the client looking straight at you, you want to map out and identify the area of the eye where the hood is more prominent, then you will want to have the client close her eyes and transfer the map over to the patches. ❌ Do NOT map out this map with the eyes closed, because the hood will shift when the client closes their eyes.   If you're unsure whether your client has hooded eyes, there are a few key signs to look for.  Excess skin on the upper eyelid: Hooded eyes are characterized by an additional layer of skin that hangs from the brow bone and covers a portion of the upper eyelid. This can result in a smaller-looking lid and create a hooded appearance. Concealed or minimized crease: Hooded eyes may still possess a crease, but it is often less prominent due to the presence of excess skin. The natural crease can be partially or entirely covered, making it less visible. Perception of smaller eyes: The excess skin can give the impression of smaller eyes, as it diminishes the visible lid space. This can create an illusion of narrower eyes and reduced openness. Challenges with the lash application: The application techniques may pose difficulties for hooded eyes. The excess skin can interfere with proper lash placement and impact the desired lash look.   For more tips like this one be sure to subscribe to our email list, we send very informative and helpful emails every week, please click here.   CORRECT LASH STYLING FOR HOODED EYES: ENHANCING THE EYE OPENING EFFECT As a lash artist, one of the key aspects of our craft is to enhance the natural beauty of our client's eyes. When it comes to hooded eyes, understanding the proper lash styling techniques is essential to create an eye-opening effect. Let me give tips on the correct lash styling recommendations for hooded eyes, including the ideal lengths and curl types to achieve stunning results. Dark Brown Color Lashes, Ultra Crystal Clear Bond, Incredible Retention Primer and Super Bonder are used in this set. To shop, please click here.   ( For this example, you can use a 7-12mm volume set dark brown D curl. The dark brown is going to compliment the client's eyes. The volume set will give her enough of the lifting effect and will not be too overwhelming for the length. ) Opt For Longer Lengths: For clients with hooded eyes, opting for longer lash lengths is crucial to create the desired eye-opening effect. Longer lengths help to elongate the lashes and draw attention away from the hooded area. ( refer to the above image )   Choose D, L, And L+ Curls: Regarding curl types, it's essential to go for more dramatic options to open up hooded eyes. D curl, also known as dramatic curl, provides a noticeable lift and helps counteract the heaviness of the hooded lid. L curls, or L+ curls, are also excellent choices, as they have a sweeping effect that creates a beautiful curvature. These curl types give the illusion of more open and lifted eyes, making them ideal for hooded eye clients. Lashes, Velour Lash Adhesive, Incredible Retention Primer and Super Bonder are used in this set. To shop, please click here. ( Here’s an L curl wispy lash set in a hooded eyes client. L curl has unique curvature that helps open up the eyes and create a lifted effect. L and M curls are the ideal choices for clients with hooded eyes. These curls have a natural lifting effect that helps to open up and enhance the shape of hooded eyes, creating a more awakened and defined look. )   By strategically applying L and M curl lashes, lash artists can create a stunning and a natural-looking lift, enhancing the beauty of hooded eyes.   Strategic Placement For Definition: To further enhance the eye shape, consider strategic lash placement. Concentrate on adding more volume and length. This tip will help create the illusion of a lifted and elongated eye shape. You can effectively counterbalance the hooded effect and draw attention to the outer corners, creating a more defined and captivating look.   For more tips like this one be sure to subscribe to our email list, we send very informative and helpful emails every week, please click here.   INCORRECT STYLING OF HOODED EYES: WHAT TO AVOID FOR OPTIMAL RESULTS Proper lash styling for hooded eyes is crucial to create a flattering and eye-opening effect. However, certain mistakes in lash applications can lead to underwhelming results. Let me discuss three common errors to avoid when styling hooded eyes. Classic Lashes, Elite High Humidity Adhesive, Incredible Retention Primer and Super Bonder used in this set. To shop, please click here.   Avoid Using Natural Curls (B and C Curls): Using extensions with extremely natural curls, such as B and C curls, is not recommended for hooded eyes. These curls lack the necessary lifting effect to combat the hooded lid. Instead, opt for lashes with a more noticeable curl, such as C, D, or L and L+ curls. These curlier options lift the appearance, opening the eyes and counteracting the hooded effect.   Avoid Using Lengths That Are Too Short (6-11mm): When it comes to lash length, it's essential to strike a balance. While shorter lengths can be suitable for some eye shapes, using too short lashes for hooded eyes can further emphasize the hooded effect and make the eyes appear smaller. Instead, opt for longer lengths, such as 8-13mm, or even slightly longer, depending on the health of your client's natural lashes.   Natural Mapping Can Be Underwhelming: While natural mapping is a popular choice for many lash applications, it may not be the most effective approach for hooded eyes. Natural mapping typically follows the natural lash line, resulting in a softer and less dramatic look. However, hooded eyes require strategic placement of longer lashes towards the middle and outer corners to create the illusion of lift and definition. Avoid relying solely on natural mapping for hooded eyes and instead consider mapping techniques that emphasize the outer corners and make a more lifted appearance.   Lash artists can enhance the natural beauty of hooded eyes by avoiding these incorrect styling practices and opting for more pronounced curls, appropriate lengths, and strategic mapping techniques. Providing clients with flattering and eye-opening lash looks will leave them confident and satisfied with the results.   For more tips like this one be sure to subscribe to our email list, we send very informative and helpful emails every week, please click here.   EYELASH EXTENSIONS FOR HOODED EYES Finding the right lash style can make all the difference in enhancing and accentuating their natural beauty when it comes to hooded eyes. Hydro-Gel Under Eye Patches, Eyelash Extension Ballet Slippers Tape, Volume Lashes, Ultra Crystal Clear Bond, Incredible Retention Primer and Silicone Extra Sensitive Tape are used in this set. To shop, please click here.   Cat Mapping For Hooded Eyes The cat eye lash map is a classic choice that beautifully complements hooded eyes. This style focuses on elongating the outer corners of the eyes, creating a lifted and winged effect. The eyes appear wider and more lifted by strategically placing longer lashes towards the outer corners and gradually tapering them towards the inner corners. Be cautious to make sure the hood of the clients eyelid is actually in the outer corners, as opposed if you want to use this style . If the area of the hood is closer to the middle it may be safer to use a doll eye map. Lashes, Velour Lash Adhesive, Incredible Retention Primer and Super Bonder are used in this set. To shop, please click here.   The cat lash mapping adds a touch of drama and elegance to hooded eyes, drawing attention to the outer corners and creating a seductive, feline-inspired look. This style helps counterbalance the heaviness of the hooded lid and creates a visually appealing symmetry. Cashmere Noir Collection Lashes, Bullet Adhesive, Incredible Retention Primer and Super Bonder are used in this set. To shop, please click here.   To learn more about cat eyelashes and how they can enhance your client’s eye shape, please click here.   Doll Lash Mapping For Hooded Eyes  The doll lash style is another fantastic option for enhancing hooded eyes. This style emphasizes the center of the lash line, making the eyes appear larger and more open. The eyes take on a doll-like, doe-eyed appearance by using longer lashes in the middle portion of the lash line and slightly shorter ones towards the outer and inner corners. This is a fantastic style especially when the area of the hood is towards the middle of the eye, since the doll eye map will conceal the hooded effect. Dark Brown Color Lashes, Ultra Crystal Clear Bond, Incredible Retention Primer and Super Bonder are used in this set. To shop, please click here.   To learn more about doll lash extensions, please click here to dive into our comprehensive guide.   For more tips like this one be sure to subscribe to our email list, we send very informative and helpful emails every week, please click here.   WRAPPING IT UP In conclusion, mastering lash styling secrets for hooded eyes can elevate your lash game and enhance the natural beauty of your clients. A lash lift is a chemical curling process done on natural lashes. We use lifting solutions and silicone shields to shape lashes upward from the base. The result is a lifted look that can last several weeks. Lash Patches and Rods for Lash Lift and Tint and Lash Lift Ribbons are used in this set. To shop, please click here.   The service includes steps like: Cleaning the lashes Placing a silicone rod on the eyelid Lifting and setting lashes over the rod Applying a setting solution Optional tinting Final conditioning   Preparing for a Lash Lift Appointment  As lash artists, we follow a set process before every lash lift session: Confirm no contraindications like eye infections or skin reactions. Clean the client’s eye area with an oil-free cleanser. Choose the correct shield size for the desired result. Use disposable tools and sterile applicators. Perform a patch test if required by law or salon policy.   We advise clients to: Avoid wearing makeup or waterproof mascara on the day of the appointment. Stop using lash serums at least 24 hours before. Avoid caffeine to reduce eye movement during the procedure. Arrive on time and communicate any sensitivities.   Who Is Suitable for a Lash Lift? Clients who are suitable: Have medium to long natural lashes. Prefer low-maintenance lash services. Are not allergic to perming solutions. Do not want extensions.   Who Is Not Suitable for a Lash Lift? Clients who are not suitable: Have very short or sparse lashes. Have recent eye surgeries. Are pregnant or breastfeeding (depending on policy). Are undergoing chemotherapy. Have active eye infections or eczema near the eye. Are allergic to any of the ingredients in the lifting solution.   For more tips like this one be sure to subscribe to our email list, we send very informative and helpful emails every week, please click here.   How Does a Lash Lift Work? (Step-by-Step) Here’s a step-by-step breakdown of how a lash lift is performed from start to finish. Lash & Brow Lift Kit, Rainbow Lash Lift Rods, and Purple Lash Lift Tool are used in this set. To shop, please click here.   Step 1: Clean the Natural Lashes We begin by cleansing the lashes to remove oils, residue, or makeup. This helps the lifting solution adhere properly.   Step 2: Choose and Place the Silicone Shield A silicone rod or shield is selected based on the desired curl. We place it on the eyelid using a gentle adhesive to keep it in position.   Step 3: Adhere Lashes to the Shield We lift the natural lashes onto the shield using lash-safe glue. Each lash must be separated and straight to ensure an even lift.   Step 4: Apply the Lifting Solution This solution softens the lash structure by breaking down disulfide bonds in the hair. It allows the lashes to mold to the shape of the shield.   Step 5: Wait for Processing Time Processing usually takes 6–12 minutes depending on lash thickness and the product used. We must not exceed the manufacturer’s timing to avoid overprocessing.   Step 6: Remove the Lifting Solution After time is up, we gently remove the lifting solution with a clean tool or applicator, avoiding contact with skin or eyes.   Step 7: Apply the Setting Solution This solution rebuilds the disulfide bonds in the new lifted shape. It “locks in” the curl created by the shield.   Step 8: Wait for Second Processing Time Similar to the lift solution, timing is crucial. Usually 6–10 minutes.   Step 9: Optional: Apply Tint If adding a tint, it is done after setting. We apply lash tint to darken the lashes, especially helpful for clients with lighter lashes.   Step 10: Remove the Shield and Clean Up Once processing is complete, we gently remove the shield, cleanse the eye area, and brush through the lashes to reveal the lift.   Need help with lash lifts? How To Politely Fire A Lash Client As A Lash Tech

by Michelle Rebay on May 07 2023
As a lash tech, you may have encountered clients who don't treat you or your work with the respect you deserve. Unfortunately, no magic wand can wave over them and make them better people. But there are ways you can gently remind them that their behavior is unacceptable and let them know how to fix it. First things first: try not to take things personally. Remember that these clients may act this way because they've had bad experiences with other lash techs or are insensitive. So if it feels like they're treating you poorly, remind yourself that they're probably not doing it out of spite. Deluxe Aftercare Kit and Lash Apron are used in this set. If you've been a lash tech for long enough, you've probably had to deal with the occasional difficult client. There are times when you just know that the client isn't going to be a good fit for your business—and that's okay. You don't have to work with every person who walks through your door. But how do you politely let them down? That's where things can get tricky. You want to be professional and firm, but also kind and respectful. There are ways of doing this that can help your business grow and maintain its reputation as an ethical place to get lashes done! In this article, I'm going to walk you through some tips on how to fire clients without burning bridges.   GET TO THE POINT QUICKLY First, let's get one thing straight: You're not firing them, you're letting them know that your services don't align with theirs. That's why it's important to take control of the conversation early on in order to set expectations so that everyone knows what they're getting into! Color Lashes, Velour Lash Adhesive, Super Bonder, and Incredible Retention Primer are used in this set. To shop, please click here.   So when new client comes in for their appointment, tell them what you can do for them and what you won't be able to do. Then let them know that if they want something outside of those parameters, they should find someone else who can accommodate those needs. If they still want to work with you after hearing this information, then great! But if they decide not to work with you after hearing this information… well, then they've made an informed decision and we'll all move on with our lives.   For more tips like this one be sure to subscribe to our email list, we send very informative and helpful emails every week, please click here.   BE SPECIFIC AND BACK IT UP WITH FACTS Don't just say "I don't think this is working out," because that can leave your client feeling confused about what the problem is and why you're ending the relationship. It's better to give specific examples of things you've noticed (and by when) that made you realize that something wasn't going right. Be upfront about why you're firing them; don't makeup excuses that aren't true just because you don't want to hurt their feelings or risk making things awkward between the two of you. Color Lashes, Pro-made Fans, Optite Low Humidity Adhesive, Super Bonder, and Incredible Retention Primer are used in this set. To shop, please click here.   Remember to be polite. You can't afford to burn bridges with this person—they may still be going to other salons and talking about how awesome you were! So make sure that when you approach, you're as pleasant as possible about it and thank them.   For more tips like this one be sure to subscribe to our email list, we send very informative and helpful emails every week, please click here.   BE STRAIGHTFORWARD AND HONEST You'll want to let your client know that you've been thinking about how much work they require from you and that you don't think it's fair for them to expect you to do that much work for the price they're paying. Make sure they understand that the decision has nothing to do with their personality or appearance—you just can't keep up with the demand they're placing on your services. Promade Fans, Lash Wisps, Velour Lash Adhesive, Incredible Retention Primer and Super Bonder are used in this set. To shop, please click here.   Tell them what they want is outside of your expertise or experience level, or that you're just not comfortable with providing the service. Be clear about what you will or won't be doing and why!   For more tips like this one be sure to subscribe to our email list, we send very informative and helpful emails every week, please click here.   BE CLEAR ABOUT WHAT YOU WILL OR WON’T BE DOING Politely firing a client is a sticky situation. But it's an inevitable one, so you might as well be prepared. First and foremost: be clear about what you will or won't be doing. If you're not comfortable with certain aspects of the job, let the client know that up front so they aren't surprised by anything later on. For example, if you don't like working with people who are rude or difficult to deal with, let them know that before they book an appointment with you. Promade Fans, Neon Color Lashes, Ultra Crystal Clear Bond, Incredible Retention Primer and Super Bonder are used in this set. To shop, please click here.   Be upfront with them about what services you provide and which ones are outside your scope of practice. If they ask for something outside your scope, say "I'd love to help but I don't do that." Don't feel bad about turning down business—you are there to do a job, not just make friends!   For more tips like this one be sure to subscribe to our email list, we send very informative and helpful emails every week, please click here.   BE PREPARED TO ANSWER QUESTIONS AND GIVE EXAMPLES Firing a lash client is no easy task. It's hard to let someone go when they're counting on you, and it can be even harder when they don't understand why you're doing it. But if you're feeling overwhelmed with a client who isn't actually respecting your time or your boundaries, it might be time to fire them. Optite Low Humidity Adhesive, Lash Wisps Mixed Lengths, Super Bonder, and Incredible Retention Primer are used in this set. To shop, please click here.   If this is the first time you've had this conversation with them (or maybe even if it isn't), they may have questions about why you're firing them. It's important to give clear, concise answers that show them how their behaviour negatively impacts your business. If they press you further and ask what they can do differently, provide an actionable suggestion or two and let them know that these changes need to be made immediately in order to keep working together.   For more tips like this one be sure to subscribe to our email list, we send very informative and helpful emails every week, please click here.   USE A NEUTRAL TONE OF VOICE First and foremost, be polite! Even if someone has done something that made you angry, don't let them see any emotion on your face or hear any anger in your voice. Instead, try using a neutral tone of voice and remain calm throughout the conversation. Lashes, Ultra Crystal Bond, Incredible Retention Primer, and Super Bonder are used in this set. To shop, please click here.   Set yourself up for success by being confident in your decision. Let me explain: so many people get caught up in how much money they could lose by firing this person that they can't make a decision because of their own lack of confidence (or lack of financial stability). But when you feel like an empowered business owner who knows what's best for her business AND her clients, then it becomes easy to make the right choice. PRO TIP: First things first: don't get angry or defensive. This is about them, not you! Explain why you can't continue working together—and do it in a way that doesn't make it seem like it's their fault or something they did wrong. Try to do this face-to-face if possible (or at least over the phone). It will make it easier for everyone involved!    For more tips like this one be sure to subscribe to our email list, we send very informative and helpful emails every week, please click here.   REASONS TO FIRE A LASH CLIENT Have you ever had a client that was just not working out? Do you have a client who makes you feel like your time is wasted, or is asking for something unreasonable? If so, here are 4 reasons to fire your lash client: Lashes, Glitter Galaxy Collection, Color Lashes, Incredible Retention Primer, Super Bonder, and Velour Lash Adhesive are used in this set. To shop, please click here.   Your client is cancelling an appointment more than once a month.  If this is happening, it’s time to cut ties with that person. You’re not going to be able to keep them happy—and they won’t be happy with their lashes—if they’re constantly making changes to their schedule.   Your client has not paid for the service.  This happens sometimes when clients think they can get free lash extensions by not paying for them, or when they feel that since they got some discounts on their first visit, they can get discounts every visit after that. Don’t let anyone tell you what you did or didn’t do on their first visit—stand firm!   They don't want to follow your rules This one is probably obvious, but it bears repeating! If your client is constantly trying to get away with breaking the rules of your service (especially when it comes to lash aftercare), then she's not going to be happy with any other part of the process, either. She may also try to get away with breaking other rules in life—like paying her bills on time—and that's not fair for anyone involved. It's better just to cut her loose before she wrecks everything else in sight!   Your client wants you to change your schedule dramatically to fit her needs If this happens once or twice, it's okay—but if it happens more than once or twice, it might be time for both of you to move on!   For more tips like this one be sure to subscribe to our email list, we send very informative and helpful emails every week, please click here.   CONCLUSION I know—it's hard to fire your lash client. It's hard to say no, and it's even harder to say yes and then have that client not show up. But here's the thing: it's your job as a lash tech to make sure that you can take care of all your clients. That means that if one of them is not following the rules, is being rude to you or other people on set, or just isn't paying attention to how vital their appointments are…you need to let them go. Because the truth is that if a client can't follow the simple rules of being polite and understanding what they're getting themselves into, they're just not worth your time. And if you don't fire them now? They'll only drag down your lash business in the future.     We hope you've enjoyed reading this blog! YY Lashes Vs W Lashes: Which One Has the Most To Offer?

by Michelle Rebay on May 01 2023
For lash artists, offering the right lash style to clients is essential. Two popular options, YY Lashes and W Lashes, are widely used in the industry for creating pre-made fan extensions. While both lash types serve to increase volume and save application time, they differ in structure, effect, and use. In this blog, we’ll discuss what each lash type is, compare them in detail, and explain when and how to use them effectively.     YY Lashes and W Lashes are used here. To shop, please click here.   New to lash photo editing? We've got you covered with our Free Lash Editing Tutorial. Click here to learn more!   What Are YY Lashes? YY Lashes are pre-made fans with 4 lash extensions per fan, designed in the shape of a double-layered "Y." This unique structure provides a noticeable yet natural level of volume while remaining lightweight. These lashes are an efficient option for lash artists to create a fuller lash line without needing to hand-make volume fans. YY Brown Lashes and Pink Summer Collection Tweezer are used here. To shop, please click here.   Key Details About YY Lashes: Each fan has 4 extensions. Fans are arranged in a double-Y shape for a layered effect. Suitable for clients looking for moderate volume and lightweight lashes. Pre-made, saving time during application. YY Lashes and Large Tip Boot Lash Tweezer are used here. To shop, please click here.   How to Apply YY Lashes Applying YY Lashes is simple and effective, making it easy to create a fuller lash look for your clients. These pre-made fans save time while delivering great results. Here’s a step-by-step guide to applying YY Lashes. Using your tweezers, grab the YY Lash fan in the middle, where the base begins to split into the double-Y shape. Holding it at this point ensures the fan stays intact and balanced during the application. Dip the base of the YY Lash fan into the lash adhesive, just as you would with classic lash extensions. Avoid using too much glue to prevent clumping. Isolate one natural lash using tweezers to ensure proper attachment. This step is key to achieving a clean and professional look while protecting the surrounding lashes. Attach the YY Lash fan to the isolated natural lash, just as you would with a classic lash. Ensure the fan sits securely at the base of the natural lash without touching the skin. After applying, make any necessary adjustments to ensure the lash fan is positioned correctly and evenly. This helps maintain a neat lash line and balanced appearance. YY Brown Lashes, Velour Lash Adhesive, Incredible Retention Primer, Eyelash Extension Ballet Slippers Tape, Hydro-Gel Under Eye Patches, Straight Isolation Tweezer and Short Tip Boot Lash Tweezer are used in this set. To shop, please click here.   For more tips like this one be sure to subscribe to our email list, we send very informative and helpful emails every week, please click here.   What Are W Lashes? W Lashes are pre-made lash fans with 6 lash extensions per fan, shaped in the form of a "W." This arrangement gives a dense and bold appearance to the lash line. These lashes are ideal for clients who want a striking lash style with high volume. W Dark Brown Lashes and Pink Summer Collection Tweezer are used here. To shop, please click here.   Key Details About W Lashes: Each fan has 6 extensions. Fans are shaped like a "W," creating a dense appearance. Best for clients who prefer noticeable volume and a fuller lash line. Pre-made for efficient application. 0.05 W Volume Lashes is used here. To shop, please click here.   How to Apply W Lashes W Lashes, known for their W-shaped design and bold volume, are becoming a popular choice for clients who want dramatic lash lines. As a lash artist, mastering how to apply W Lashes is straightforward with the right technique. Here’s a simple step-by-step guide to ensure the lash fan stays intact and looks perfect on your client. Start by picking up the W lash extension carefully using tweezers. Hold the extension midway between its top and bottom, just before the base splits into the W shape. This grip ensures the fan stays intact during application. Dip the base of the extension into a small amount of adhesive, making sure not to oversaturate it. Place the W lash onto the client’s natural lash as you would with a classic extension, aligning it securely at the base without touching the eyelid. Let the adhesive bond naturally, ensuring the fan remains spread for the signature W effect. With consistent practice, applying W lashes becomes as straightforward as working with classic or other pre-made fan extensions. 0.05 W Volume Lashes is used here. W Lashes: Use for clients seeking dramatic volume and density, particularly for those with strong natural lashes that can support heavier extensions.   Are YY Lashes Hybrid? No, YY Lashes are not hybrid lashes. However, their unique double-layered Y shape can mimic the effect of hybrid lashes by combining the lightweight properties of classic lashes with the volume of pre-made fans. This makes them versatile for clients wanting a mixed effect. YY Brown Lashes, Ultra Crystal Bond, Super Bonder, and Incredible Retention Primer are used in this set. To shop, please click here.   What Is the Difference Between Classic and YY Lashes? Classic Lashes: Use one extension per natural lash, resulting in a simple and clean lash line. YY Lashes: Use pre-made fans with 4 extensions per fan, offering more volume and coverage compared to classic lashes. Classic Lashes Chocolate Collection, YY Color Lashes and Pink Summer Collection Tweezer are used here. To shop, please click here.   Tips for Lash Artists Stock Both Types: Having both YY Lashes and W Lashes in your inventory allows you to cater to a variety of clients. Some may want the light volume of YY Lashes, while others may prefer the bold look of W Lashes. Assess Natural Lashes: Always evaluate the client’s natural lash condition before deciding on YY or W Lashes. Finer lashes may struggle with heavier W Lashes, while stronger lashes can easily support them. Understand Your Client’s Goals: During consultations, ask your clients about their preferred lash style, volume, and occasions they are preparing for. Use these insights to recommend the best lash type. Explain the Options: Show clients the difference between YY Lashes and W Lashes visually, so they can better understand the final look they can expect.   For more tips like this one be sure to subscribe to our email list, we send very informative and helpful emails every week, please click here.   Conclusion Both YY Lashes and W Lashes have unique benefits for lash artists and clients. YY Lashes are lightweight and versatile, offering moderate volume for clients with finer lashes. W Lashes, with their denser fan design, create a bold lash line for clients who prefer dramatic volume. Understanding the differences and knowing when to use each type ensures you can deliver customized lash styles that meet your clients’ preferences. Stock both styles to offer variety and be prepared for all client requests.     We hope you've enjoyed reading this blog! 4 Promotional Ideas For Lash Artists To Get More Clients

by Michelle Rebay on Apr 23 2023
How do I attract more lash clients? How can I promote my eyelash business? What is the unique selling point for eyelash extensions? These are the question that every lash artist has asked themselves at some point. And it's a topic that we've covered before, but we wanted to revisit it with some new ideas. In today's world, there are a lot of options for your clients to choose from. You want to stand out from the crowd, but you also need to have a marketing plan that's going to work for your business. Optite Low Humidity Adhesive, Lash Wisps Mixed Lengths, Super Bonder, and Incredible Retention Primer are used in this set. To shop, please click here.       New to lash photo editing? We've got you covered with our Free Lash Editing Tutorial. Click here to learn more!     Getting more clients can be tricky. If you're a lash artist, you want to make sure that you're getting new clients in the door while also retaining your existing clientele. Here are 4 awesome ways to do just that! Promade Fans, Lash Wisps, Velour Lash Adhesive, Incredible Retention Primer , and Super Bonder are used in this set. To shop, please click here.   OFFER DISCOUNTS TO NEW CLIENTS This is one of the best ways to get new clients in the door. Offer them a discount on their first appointment so that they can try it out for themselves and see how great your lashes are. It's also a great way for you to show off how much value you put into your work—you want your clients to know that they're getting only the best from you! If someone is just starting with lash extensions, they'll probably be more willing to try something new or spend more money on their first visit than they will if they've been going to the same place for years. Offer a discount on their first visit and they'll come back again and again! Promade Fans, Lash Wisps, Optite Low Humidity Adhesive, Incredible Retention Primer, and Super Bonder are used here. To shop, please click here.   Here's how to do it right: Offer a discount for only one appointment. You don't want your client looking at their bill and thinking "Wow, this place is cheap." You want them thinking "I'm getting a lot of bang for my buck here." So when you give them a discount for their first service, make sure it's a big one—at least 20%. That way they'll feel like they're getting something special, but not so much that they question why other services are priced higher than yours. Don't offer the same discount over and over again. If any services are priced higher than others in your lineup (because they require more time or skill on your part), then keep those at full price and offer the new client discount just once on the lower cost services. This will help keep things fair for everyone who has been coming in regularly before this new client walked through your door!   For more tips like this one be sure to subscribe to our email list, we send very informative and helpful emails every week, please click here.   REFERRAL DISCOUNT One of our favorite ways to attract new clients is through referrals from current clients—especially when those referrals come with an incentive! You can offer a referral discount for each new client brought in by a referrer, or even for every two or three referrals who come in together (just make sure the discount isn't so big that it encourages people to refer their friends or family). Offer a percentage off the base price for each new client you receive through a referral from an existing client. This works especially well if you have an active Instagram account where clients can tag friends who might be interested in your services and share with them directly. Lashes, Ultra Crystal Bond, Incredible Retention Primer, and Super Bonder are used in this set. To shop, please click here.   You can also try offering specials for people who refer their friends and family members. Maybe they get $20 off their next appointment if they bring in someone new, or maybe they get $50 off if two friends come in together on the same day. You can even offer extra incentives if they bring in three friends! It's up to you what kind of deal they get—just make sure it's something that will encourage them to bring in more people so that everyone gets something out of it!   For more tips like this one be sure to subscribe to our email list, we send very informative and helpful emails every week, please click here.   CLIENT LOYALTY REWARDS Lashes are the new black, and we're not talking about the color. We're talking about the lash client who has been with you for years and has never left. Loyalty is a powerful thing—especially in the beauty industry. If your clients are loyal to you, they'll continue coming back to you year after year, and that can mean big money in your pocket. Mega Lash Box, Velour Lash Adhesive, Super Bonder, and Incredible Retention Primer are used in this set. To shop, please click here.   So how do you keep them coming back? With loyalty rewards! Loyalty rewards are an easy way to show your clients that they're appreciated, while also helping them save money on their next visit. Here are some ideas for how to make your loyalty program: Offer a discount on their future appointment (This will help keep them around and coming back) Give them a free lash product with their next service (This will make them feel special and encourage them to continue coming back) Free lash fills at the end of the month, let's say one free lash fill per 2-3 months (or whatever number works best for your business). Free lash fills when a client consecutively gets their lashes from you for 5 months. If someone comes in for their appointment every month for six months straight, give them a gift card or other small token as a reward for sticking with you! This will help build loyalty among existing clients and encourage them to bring in friends and family members. You can also create a rewards program where loyal clients receive a 50% off their full set after reaching certain milestones (like the 5th visit or 10th full set appointment). This will encourage existing clients to keep coming back for more!   For more tips like this one be sure to subscribe to our email list, we send very informative and helpful emails every week, please click here.   OFFERING DEALS ON SPECIFIC DAYS OF THE WEEK If you're a lash artist and you're looking to get more clients, you may be wondering what kind of promotions you can offer. We've got just the thing: everyday deals on specific days of the week. Neon Color Lashes, Velour Lash Adhesive, Incredible Retention Primer, Super Bonder and Promade Fans used in this set. To shop, please click here.   Every day is a great day for deals. But if we're being honest, some days are better than others. That's why I thought it would be fun to break down the week and offer some ideas for how you can make the most of your promotional efforts. Monday: Mondays are perfect for offering a discount on lashes! You can offer 20% off if a client brings a friend with her (that client can have the 20% off and her friend will pay the full set price) this is a great way to bring in new clients too! Tuesday: Maybe Tuesdays are the slowest day for some, but that doesn't mean you can't make it better! Offer a 10% discount on all your lash services on Tuesdays, and watch as your appointments start filling up! The best part is that you don't even have to change anything about your regular pricing—just tack on an extra 10% when people book their appointments. It's that simple! And it's sure to be effective! Wednesday: Wednesdays are probably your most popular day of the week—why not make them even better by offering FREE lash products or an aftercare kit (if it’s not included in their appointment) with every appointment booked on Wednesdays? Your clients will love it, and they'll keep coming back again and again. Thursday is especially good because it's the day of the week when people are ready to let loose. The weekend is coming up, and they want to look their best for what's ahead. You can offer $15 off your client's next appointment if they schedule a fill before Friday. Finally, there's Friday, Saturday, and Sunday—and these are all great days for deals too! Maybe try offering 10% OFF all services or maybe even just offering 15% off if they will go for volume or mega volume sets. (or whatever price point is right for your business).   For more tips like this one be sure to subscribe to our email list, we send very informative and helpful emails every week, please click here.   CONCLUSION The bottom line is that you want to stand out from the crowd, and that's what I'm here to help you do. You're a lash artist, so you know how important it is to create a memorable experience for your clients. It's always better to be the one they remember than the one they forget. So go ahead and try some of these ideas out—I'm sure they'll help you get more clients in no time! If you're a lash artist, I hope you've found value in these tips. If you're not a lash artist, I hope that you've been inspired by some of the ideas presented here and have decided to look into becoming one!     We hope you've enjoyed reading this blog! This is helpful if you’re just starting out and need to manage costs. Even if you’ve been a lash artist for years, buying in larger quantities can still reduce your expenses. When you can get a deal on a bigger order, take it. You’ll spend less over time because you won’t need to reorder small amounts as often. Bulk orders can also lower shipping costs if the company ships large quantities together. If you’re ordering from an international supplier, check their return policy before buying a lot of products. Promade Fans, Lash Wisps, Velour Lash Adhesive, Incredible Retention Primer, and Super Bonder are used in this set. To shop, please click here.   Buying in bulk is one of the best ways to save money. You get more for your money but have much less to carry around and can make more daily sales.  What lash products may you purchase in bulk, then? Lashes are a big one. You can buy lashes in large quantities, saving you money and time. As they run out, you won't need to continue shopping for more ones and won't need to be concerned about running out of stock on a busy day/month. Plus, if you're ever running low on stock, this will help prevent it from happening again! Pro-made Loose Single Lashes, Bio Gel Eye Patches, Velour Lash Adhesive, Incredible Retention Primer, Nude 90 Degree Isolation Lash Extension Tweezer, and Super Bonder are used in this set. And if you're like me, that means going online and finding coupon codes or sales on lash products you want. Buying secondhand items instead of new ones (or at least looking into them). Sometimes brand names are just too expensive—but that doesn't mean they're better quality than something else!    Here are some tips for getting great deals at your favorite lash brands: Always ask about discounts—even if they're not advertised online, many of these stores will offer them depending on what kind of volume you purchase in one order.  Ask about sample sizes to try out new products before committing to full-size orders (or stock up on your favorites).  Shop around and compare prices—if you've been shopping with one supplier for a while now, check out their competitors' offerings; chances are they'll have something similar at a lower price than what's listed online! Color Lashes, Velour Lash Adhesive, Super Bonder, and Incredible Retention Primer are used in this set. To shop, please click here.   For more tips like this one be sure to subscribe to our email list, we send very informative and helpful emails every week, please click here.   CONCLUSION If you want to save money, you must be willing to take a little risk and get a little creative. You might feel overwhelmed if you're new to the lash extensions world. There are many different things to consider: the correct type of glue, the best way to apply the lashes, and how to get them to last as long as possible. You're not alone! If you're starting, it can be hard to know which tips will help you improve your craft and which are just… well, wrong. But don't worry! We've got you covered with our lash application tips. Promade Fans, Glittery Lash Extensions, Ultra Crystal Clear Bond, and Super Bonder are used in this set. To shop, please click here.   New to lash photo editing? We've got you covered with our Free Lash Editing Tutorial. Click here to learn more!   In this post, we'll go over everything from what you should be thinking about before even getting started with a client (hint: it's not just about the glue) to what happens when things go wrong and how you can deal with those situations effectively. Color Lashes, Velour Lash Adhesive, Super Bonder, and Incredible Retention Primer are used in this set. To shop, please click here.   LASH APPLICATION TIP #1 WHEN SHOULD YOU USE LASH PRIMER? The first thing you should know about primers is that they're not just for everyone! Hydro-Gel Under Eye Patches, Disposable Micro Swabs, and Incredible Retention Primer are used in this set. To shop, please click here.   If you use a lash primer, you must use it on the right type of client. Here are some tips for finding out if your client needs a lash primer: 1) If the client has oily skin and lashes, use a lash primer.  2) Make sure to lash bath all your clients (whether full set or lash fill) before applying the primer. Hydro-Gel Under Eye Patches, Disposable Micro Swabs, Bendable Micro Swabs, and Incredible Retention Primer are used in this set. To shop, please click here.   Do you want to know the benefits of using lash primer? Well, you're in luck! Click here now.   For more tips like this one be sure to subscribe to our email list, we send very informative and helpful emails every week, please click here.   LASH APPLICATION TIP #2 WHAT TAPE TO USE WHEN LASHING IN LAYERS? When applying lashes, it's essential to use the right tape. The wrong kind can make your application look sloppy and your client uncomfortable.    NEXCARE SENSITIVE SKIN TAPE Silicone tape is the way to go when you're ready to start lashing in layers. When we talk about the tape, we're not just talking about the kind you use to keep things in your drawer organized—we're talking about the kind that keeps the lashes in place. Silicone tape is perfect for lower lid taping and tape back method without pulling the lashes. Hydro-Gel Under Eye Patches, Incredible Retention Primer, Silicone Extra Sensitive Tape, and Short Tip Boot Lash Tweezer are used in this set. To shop, please click here.   Here's why: silicone tape is thin and flexible enough not to damage the natural lashes or eyelids. It also sticks better than other types of tape, so it won't fall off or peel away from your skin before you're done lashing! Finally, silicone tape has a low-friction surface, ensuring the lashes won't stick together during application. Hydro-Gel Under Eye Patches, Incredible Retention Primer, and Silicone Extra Sensitive Tape are used in this set. To shop, please click here.   MEDICAL TAPE FOR EYELASH EXTENSIONS You've probably heard of medical tape: it's the stuff that doctors use to hold gauze on wounds and keep bandages in place. But did you know as a lash artist, it can also be used in your eyelash extensions practice? It's true! And you'll want to steal this tip from the pros as soon as possible. Hydro-Gel Under Eye Patches, Incredible Retention Primer, Lash Extension Medical Tape, and L Shape Tweezer are used in this set. To shop, please click here.   Medical tapes are made with a unique material safe for all skin types and won't hurt your client's natural lashes. It also has a high level of breathability, which means it won't dry out the skin or make it uncomfortable. Best of all, it's very gentle on the eyes—precisely what you need when working with delicate skin around the eyes! Hydro-Gel Under Eye Patches, Incredible Retention Primer, Lash Extension Medical Tape, L Shape Tweezer, and Straight Isolation Tweezer are used in this set. To shop, please click here.   To learn more about what tape is used in lash extensions? Here Are The Top 3!   For more tips like this one be sure to subscribe to our email list, we send very informative and helpful emails every week, please click here.   LASH APPLICATION TIP #3 LASHING DIFFICULT LASHES Your first instinct is to lash every lash, but sometimes that's impossible. Like when you're lashing a client wearing a contact lens (which is a no-no!) or having a client with a medical condition that makes it difficult for them to have eyelash extensions. Or you may have a client with super curly lashes, and it's not worth trying to get those lashes to lie flat against the natural lash line. Hydro-Gel Under Eye Patches and Incredible Retention Primer are used in this set. To shop, please click here.   Lashing difficult lashes can be frustrating. Here are three ways to get the job done: Hydro-Gel Under Eye Patches and Incredible Retention Primer are used in this set. To shop, please click here.   Follow the pattern placement of the first extension you place. Ensuring each subsequent lash you place is parallel to the previous ones. You may need to skip some way too curly or crooked lashes.   You may need to place the extension from the side or the top to correct their direction to make sure they all look uniform when you're done applying them all together!   Do NOT follow the pattern of the client's natural lashes, as this will result in a messy, uneven set and emphasize your clients' crooked, curly, and uneven lashes. When lashing difficult lashes, such as those with an uneven curve, it can be challenging to create an even set without compromising the quality of an application. However, there are ways to achieve this!   For more tips like this one be sure to subscribe to our email list, we send very informative and helpful emails every week, please click here.   LASH APPLICATION TIP #4 INNER CORNER LASH EXTENSIONS Working with the inner corners can be tricky. It's not just about getting them in the right place but also about making sure they're in good condition and will stay put. Hydro-Gel Under Eye Patches, Incredible Retention Primer, Lash Extension Medical Tape, L Shape Tweezer and Large Tip Boot Lash Tweezer are used in this set. To shop, please click here.   Here are some mistakes you might be making:   Using lash lengths that are too long and damaging One of the most common lash mistakes you can make is using too long and damaging lengths. You must remember that when working with the inner corners, you're working with very short lashes. This means the shorter your extensions are, the better they'll look!   Using diameters that are too heavy for the inner corners Another common mistake is using too heavy diameters for the inner corners. The same rule applies here: if you want your lashes to look natural, use smaller diameters. You can always add more extensions later if need be!   Stickies You can end up in a sticky situation when you're not careful. Keep your clients' natural lashes from sticking together during the lash application! Stickies might happen if you haven't isolated the natural lash and allowed the adhesive to dry properly before moving onto another lash.   Putting the extension too close to the eyelid OR too far from the eyelid Inner corners are tricky because they're so small and delicate. You want to ensure that when applying an extension at this spot on your eye, it doesn't go too far up (which will irritate) or down (which will look unnatural).    The insufficient contact area between the extension and the natural lashes causes poor lash retention This is important because it doesn't just affect how well the extensions will stay on; it also affects how long they'll last! If there isn't enough contact area between your extension and your natural lashes, you risk losing them before their time has come. Not only does this mean that your clients will leave dissatisfied, but it also means that you'll have to spend more time trying to get them back into place (which costs both time and money).   If you want to learn more about how to lash inner corners, and outer corners and how to lash difficult lashes, please click here.   For more tips like this one be sure to subscribe to our email list, we send very informative and helpful emails every week, please click here.   LASH APPLICATION TIP #5 BANANA PEEL TECHNIQUE EYELASH EXTENSIONS Let's talk about one particular technique because it is a lifesaver: the banana peel technique. It's easy to learn, and once you master it, it can be used repeatedly. The banana peel technique is easiest to remove the extensions before lash fill. One tweezer holds the natural lash, while the other keeps the extension. This way, if you're a lash artist, you don't have to worry about accidentally pulling out the lashes while removing the extensions—the tweezers are there specifically for them! Hydro-Gel Under Eye Patches, Incredible Retention Primer, Lash Extension Medical Tape, Straight Isolation Tweezer and Large Tip Boot Lash Tweezer are used in this set. To shop, please click here.   If you want to learn more about lash fill vs full set, please click here.   For more tips like this one be sure to subscribe to our email list, we send very informative and helpful emails every week, please click here.   AND THAT'S A WRAP! As a lash artist, you know how important it is to get your application right. You've probably heard the horror stories of clients going home from their appointments with their new lashes and wondering why they feel so heavy or falling out. These mistakes are easily avoidable, though! Now that you're armed with these five tips, you can apply lashes like a pro. Practice makes perfect—but we all know that's not always the case. But don't worry! If you mess up, grab another lash and try again. You'll be an expert in no time. Good luck!     We hope you've enjoyed reading this blog!
