Whether you’re working from home or renting a spot, the location of your lash room is crucial for both client comfort and productivity. Consider using ring lights or adjustable LED lamps to provide even, bright light. These lights reduce shadows and give you clear visibility for precise lash application. Privacy and Comfort: Your clients need to feel comfortable and relaxed. Choose a quiet, private space with minimal distractions. This allows clients to unwind during the session, which is crucial for creating a peaceful, professional atmosphere. Ventilation: Lash products, especially adhesives, can release strong fumes. Proper ventilation is essential to ensure you and your clients stay comfortable. Use a fan or air purifier in the room to maintain fresh, breathable air.   Want to learn more about lash room setup and making your lash bed more comfortable? Click HERE.   2. Invest in Comfortable and Functional Furniture Creating a comfortable space starts with choosing the right furniture. Both you and your clients will spend a lot of time in this space, so it’s important to choose furniture that promotes comfort and productivity. Lash Bed or Recliner Chair A comfortable lash bed is crucial for long sessions. Look for a curved mattress memory foam bed for maximum client comfort. Adjustable beds make it easier to find the right position for both you and your client. If you're working with different lash services, consider a stretchable lash bed cover or a lash pillow and shelf duo to enhance comfort. These additions provide extra support and help keep everything within arm's reach. They also make cleaning easier, saving time between clients. Curved Lash Bed Mattress Topper and Velour Luxury Lash Bed Cover are used here. To shop, please click here.    Want to know what the best lash bed for extensions is? The shelf organizer for curved mattresses can be a great addition for storing your essentials such as tweezers, adhesives, and lash trays. A tidy workspace will increase your efficiency and help you avoid wasting time looking for tools.   3. Lighting: Make Sure You Have the Right Setup Proper lighting is key to a successful lash session. The right lighting helps you see every detail clearly and ensures that your lash applications are perfect. Consider investing in the following lighting setups: Ring Lights: A ring light helps eliminate shadows and evenly lights up the client’s lashes. This is ideal for both lash extensions and lash lifts. Adjustable LED Lamps: If you're using a lash pillow or prefer a direct light source, consider adjustable desk lamps. These allow you to customize the lighting based on your needs. Remember, a combination of good natural light and adjustable lamps can give you the best lighting setup for every lash session. L Curl Lashes, Ultra Crystal Bond, Marlowe Tweezer and Malachi Tweezer are used in this set. To shop, please click here.   Want to know which light is better for eyelash extensions? When you’re working with small tools and products, keeping everything in its place ensures that your sessions run smoothly and efficiently. Essential Tools and Products: Tweezers: Have a variety of tweezers available for isolation, volume, and fan-making. Invest in high-quality tools to improve the precision and ease of your work. Lash Extensions and Lifts: Stock lash trays with different lengths, curls, and diameters. If you’re offering lash lifts, be sure to have a lash bed cover and pillow combo to keep everything neat during the process. Adhesives: Choose adhesives that work well with the humidity and temperature of your room. Lash bed vinyl covers can help protect your tools and surfaces when handling adhesives. Organizing these items in a rolling lash cart will help you keep your workspace tidy and easily accessible, reducing the need to get up constantly during sessions. Need lash supplies? Proper hygiene ensures the quality of your work and protects your clients from potential infections. Sanitize Tools: Always disinfect your tweezers, scissors, and other reusable tools after each session. A mattress protector or disposable covers for your lash bed will ensure that all surfaces are clean and ready for the next client. Clean Linens: Regularly wash and replace pillow covers, blankets, and any other fabric items that clients come in contact with. Use disposable pillow covers for added convenience. Sanitize Your Space: Wipe down all surfaces, including the lash bed and cart, after each client to avoid cross-contamination. Use alcohol wipes or a UV sterilizer to ensure your tools and surfaces stay germ-free. Curved Lash Bed Mattress Topper, Velour Luxury Lash Bed Cover and Lash Bed Mattress are used here. Lash Extensions Stock a variety of lashes in different curls, lengths, and diameters to cater to every client's needs. High-quality lashes are essential for creating natural-looking extensions. Lash Lift Solutions If you offer lash lifts, make sure to choose products that are gentle on the lashes. Consider using a curved mattress replacement cover during treatments for added comfort and precision. Adhesives Select adhesives that are compatible with your room's humidity and temperature. Some adhesives work better in certain climates, so be sure to test and adjust based on conditions. Consider using a Bluetooth speaker or ambient music playlist. Aromatherapy: Add a diffuser with essential oils like lavender or eucalyptus to enhance the relaxing environment. Decor: Personalize your space with simple decorations, such as plants or artwork. Cozy touches make a big difference in creating a welcoming atmosphere.   Curved Lash Bed Mattress Topper, and Velour Luxury Lash Bed Cover are used here. To shop, please click here.    Difference Between a Lash Studio and a Lash Room A lash room is typically a single, private space used by a lash artist to perform eyelash extension services. It’s a dedicated area within a larger space, such as a salon or a home-based setup. On the other hand, a lash studio is a larger, standalone business dedicated to eyelash extensions and related services. A lash studio often has multiple lash rooms or workstations, a reception area, and other amenities. A lash studio may be part of a bigger beauty salon or operate independently. Aspect Lash Room Lash Studio Definition A single, private space used by a lash artist for eyelash extension services. A larger, standalone business dedicated to eyelash extensions and related services. Location Can be part of a larger space, such as a salon or home-based setup. Typically an independent business or part of a larger beauty salon. Size Smaller, often one room or workstation. Larger, with multiple rooms or workstations. Purpose Used by one lash artist for private client sessions. Used for a variety of lash-related services with a team of artists. Amenities Limited to essentials like a lash bed, lighting, and storage. May include a reception area, waiting area, and additional facilities. Environment Focused on one-on-one client interaction. Can accommodate multiple clients and lash artists at once. Business Type Can be part of a larger business or set up independently.  Often a standalone business dedicated entirely to lash services.     Conclusion Setting up your lash room is a fun and important process. With the right furniture, lighting, tools, and products, you’ll create an efficient and comfortable space that your clients will love. Keep your room organized, stay focused on cleanliness, and make sure the atmosphere is relaxing to ensure every lash session is a success. Eyelash Extensions: Cyanoacrylate Poisoning

by Michelle Rebay on Oct 08 2020
Eyelash extensions are a popular beauty treatment, but they come with risks, especially for the professionals who apply them. One potential risk that every lash artist should be aware of is cyanoacrylate poisoning. This blog post will explain what it is, how it happens, and how lash artists can protect themselves from exposure.   New to lash photo editing? We've got you covered with our Free Lash Editing Tutorial. Click here to learn more!   What Is Cyanoacrylate? Cyanoacrylate is the main ingredient found in most eyelash extension adhesives. It’s a fast-drying glue that bonds lashes to natural eyelashes. While it is effective for its purpose, it also releases fumes when it cures, and these fumes can be harmful when inhaled in large amounts or over extended periods.   How Cyanoacrylate Poisoning Happens When you work in a lash room, the glue fumes can accumulate in the air, especially if proper ventilation is lacking. If you are exposed to these fumes repeatedly or in a high concentration, they can cause health problems. The symptoms of cyanoacrylate poisoning are often linked to the irritation of the respiratory system, skin, or eyes.   Symptoms of Cyanoacrylate Poisoning The symptoms can vary from mild to severe, depending on the level of exposure. Some common signs of cyanoacrylate poisoning include: Irritated eyes: Redness, itching, or tearing in the eyes. Respiratory issues: Coughing, wheezing, shortness of breath, or a sore throat. Skin reactions: Redness, burning, or itching on the skin. Headaches: A dull or intense headache, especially if you’re exposed to the fumes for a long time. Dizziness: Feeling lightheaded or faint.   In extreme cases, continuous exposure can lead to more severe conditions, like chronic asthma, allergic reactions, or other respiratory disorders. If symptoms persist, it’s important to consult a doctor.   For more tips like this one be sure to subscribe to our email list, we send very informative and helpful emails every week, please click here.     Preventing Cyanoacrylate Poisoning As a lash artist, your health should always come first. Here are a few steps to help minimize your risk of cyanoacrylate poisoning in the lash room: Ventilation: Ensure your lash room is well-ventilated. Use fans, open windows, or invest in air purifiers designed to remove harmful chemicals. Quality Adhesives: Use high-quality eyelash extension adhesives with low levels of volatile organic compounds (VOCs). These adhesives tend to release fewer fumes. Proper Application: Avoid using excessive amounts of glue. Apply the adhesive only to the base of the natural lash to reduce the amount of glue fumes that are released into the air. PPE (Personal Protective Equipment): Wearing protective gear like gloves, masks, and eye protection can reduce direct exposure to the glue fumes and minimize the risk of skin or eye irritation. Work Breaks: Take regular breaks to step out of the lash room and get fresh air. This can help reduce the amount of exposure to harmful fumes over the course of the day. Client Care: Clients should also be informed about the potential risks of glue fumes. Ensure that the room is properly ventilated for their safety as well.   What to Do if You Experience Symptoms If you begin to feel symptoms of cyanoacrylate poisoning, it’s important to take action immediately: Leave the area: Step outside into fresh air. Seek medical attention: If symptoms persist, go to a healthcare provider. Avoid further exposure: Take time away from lash application until you fully recover. This will give your body time to heal and reduce the risk of long-term health issues.   Conclusion Cyanoacrylate poisoning is a real concern for lash artists, but by understanding the risks and taking preventative measures, you can protect your health while continuing to create beautiful lash extensions. Always prioritize safety in your lash room by ensuring proper ventilation, using high-quality adhesives, and protecting yourself with the right equipment. Remember, your well-being is just as important as the beauty you create.       Do you find this blog post helpful? Have you learned something? Leave a comment below and share your thoughts. How To Hold Your Lash Tweezers Correctly

How To Hold Your Lash Tweezers Correctly

by Michelle Rebay on Oct 08 2020
How to hold your lash tweezers? What is the proper way to keep eyelash extensions tweezers? Is it essential to hold your tweezers correctly? These are some of the questions I've heard from all of you guys. As a lash artist, the tools of your trade are essential. One of the primary tools in our kit is the lash tweezer. Holding them correctly not only ensures precision work but also prevents hand fatigue during those long lash sessions. Here's a simple guide on how to hold your lash tweezers the right way! L Curl Lashes, Ultra Crystal Bond, Marlowe Tweezer and Malachi Tweezer are used in this set. To shop, please click here.   New to lash photo editing? We've got you covered with our Free Lash Editing Tutorial. Click here to learn more!   I want to share the correct placement of the tweezers and how to make sure you are comfortable to lash comfortably for hours. However, there are simple ways to hold your eyelash tweezer correctly. Dolphin-Shaped Curved Tweezer is used here. To shop, please click here.   Like learning any new technique can feel awkward, first, we recommend practicing this grip. When it comes to tweezers, positioning is purely down to personal preference. However, when you have back-to-back clients all day, the wrong positioning of your tweezers can cause extreme pain and discomfort. Most of the time, some lash artists, including me, will hold the tweezer the wrong way. For a lash artist working with classic sets only, these mistakes will cause significant discomfort and joint pain to the lash artist. However, if the lash artist works with volume and mega volume sets, incorrect positioning of the fingers on the lash tweezer will directly impact the ability of the lash artist to make lash fans and apply them to the client's lashes.   For more tips like this one be sure to subscribe to our email list, we send very informative and helpful emails every week, please click here.   MY RECOMMENDATION Always hold your lash tweezer with 3 fingers. The index and middle finger should be on one side, as shown in the picture. The thumb should be on the other side of the tweezer. For additional support, you can also use your 4th finger closer to the tip of the tweezer. When creating a fan, your hand, thumb, and index finger are relaxed. The only finger doing the work is the middle finger. The other fingers of the hand are just there for support. The middle finger will apply pressure on the tweezer and manipulate it.   COMMON MISTAKES As a lash artist, mastering the art of holding eyelash extension tweezers is crucial. Whether you're a beginner or a seasoned pro, it's easy to overlook the importance of a proper grip. Here are some of the most common mistakes lash artists make when handling tweezers: 1. Holding the Tweezer Too High When you hold the tweezer too high, your grip becomes loose. This looseness means your lash fans can easily fall apart during the application. A good grip is essential for precision and efficiency, so always ensure you're holding your tweezer in a way that gives you full control. 2. Holding the Tweezer Too Low On the flip side, holding your tweezer too low—similar to the grip on a pen—requires you to press harder. This added pressure strains your hand, leading to: Muscle Fatigue: Over time, pressing too hard can cause pain and premature muscle fatigue. Remember, your entire hand shouldn't be tired from merely holding a tweezer. Difficulty in Application: Holding it very low means your fingers might obstruct your view and access to the client's lashes, making lash extension application a cumbersome task. 3. Using Only Two Fingers to Grip If you're only using two fingers to hold the tweezer, you're setting yourself up for challenges. Without the support and stability of the index finger, you risk shaky applications. The index finger acts as a support to your middle finger, ensuring steady pressure and precision during application. Chloe Tweezer and Promade Fans are used here. But like any tool, the effectiveness largely depends on how it's used. Here, I'll share some insights on how to optimize your tweezer technique for a flawless lash application. Pro-made Loose Single Lashes, Bio Gel Eye Patches, Velour Lash Adhesive, Incredible Retention Primer, Dolphin-Shaped Curved Tweezer, L Shape Tweezer and Super Bonder are used in this set. To shop, please click here.   1. The Importance of Holding It Right You might be surprised to know that the simple act of holding your lash tweezers correctly can elevate your lash application game. Proper grip not only ensures precision but also minimizes the risk of hand fatigue and potential muscle damage in the long run.  2. The Technique for Isolation Tweezers When working with isolation tweezers: Rest the end of the tweezer on the fingertips of your index and middle finger. Position your thumb in the middle, allowing it to rest against the knuckle of your ring finger. With this grip, move three fingers downwards, directing them towards the client's forehead. Keep your elbow out and resting on the forehead. This positioning facilitates easy access to both eyes and a streamlined working process. 3. Positioning for Optimal Access When working on the lashes: Rest your wrist on the side of the client's forehead. Angle the tweezer downwards towards the eye pad, ensuring you never direct it towards the eyeball. Lift your elbow and rest it on the corner of the forehead. This positioning helps you access the entire eye area without compressing the lashes or accidentally touching the adhesive. 4. Spotlight on the ThousandLashes Volume Tweezer The ThousandLashes Volume Tweezer holds a special place in my toolkit. Its ergonomic design makes it suitable for both beginners and seasoned lash techs. The slightly thicker tip ensures durability and prevents inadvertent lash bending, enabling precise grip on every single lash. For the best grip, hold the tweezer with two fingers behind and your thumb in the middle. Keeping the tweezer positioned lower can also reduce hand strain.   Remember, the goal is to find a grip and position that feels natural to you and reduces fatigue. Always prioritize comfort and ensure that your hand remains relaxed throughout the lash application process. Your hands are your best tools, so take care of them! Incorporate these tips into your lash application routine, and you'll notice not only an improvement in your technique but also a reduction in hand fatigue.   For more tips like this one be sure to subscribe to our email list, we send very informative and helpful emails every week, please click here.   CONCLUSION The right way is when you can work comfortably with it without feeling any tension in your hands or wrists while holding your lash extensions tweezers. You want to feel relaxed when picking up the lashes, so watch out for these signs:If you feel a lot of tension in your hand, that is a sign that you are holding it incorrectly! If you feel tired quickly during work, that is also a sign that you have it incorrectly! It should be comfortable for you to work for hours at a time! Keep practicing, and you'll surely master how to old your tweezers. Remember that your hand is one of the tools we use to do our work.As I always say, take good care of yourself so that we can take good care of our beloved clients.   We hope you've enjoyed reading this blog! How to Get Better Retention with Your Lash Glue

by Michelle Rebay on Oct 08 2020
If you're a lash artist, you know that lash retention can make or break your client’s trust in your work. Great lash sets that don’t last will hurt your reputation no matter how pretty they look when the client leaves your studio.  One of the biggest factors in retention is your lash adhesive—how it works, how you use it, and how you store it. In this post, we’ll break it all down.  Hydro-gel Under Eye Patches, Ultra Crystal Bond, Cashmere Noir Collection Lashes and Lash Wisps are used in this set. To shop, please click here.   New to lash photo editing? We've got you covered with our Free Lash Editing Tutorial. Click here to learn more!   Struggling with lash retention? Click here for a comprehensive course with guaranteed results!   Understand What’s Actually in Lash Glue Most lash adhesives are made from Ethyl-2-Cyanoacrylate. It’s the same ingredient used in superglue, but made for professional use near the eyes. How It’s Made: The adhesive is created in a lab by mixing cyanoacrylate with formaldehyde gas, which helps trigger the bonding reaction. Once the reaction happens, the adhesive is purified, and all trace amounts of formaldehyde are removed. So no—there is no formaldehyde in the lash glue you’re using on clients. Velour Lash Adhesive is used here. To shop, please click here. Want to try our lash adhesives but not sure if they're right for you? Claim your free sample now and find out why lash artists love them. Click HERE.   Key Facts Every Lash Artist Should Know 1. No, Lash Adhesive Doesn't Contain Dangerous Formaldehyde It’s a myth. While formaldehyde gas is part of the process to create cyanoacrylate, it's not present in the finished product. 2. Glue Rings Are Safe Glue rings made from PBT plastic do not react with lash adhesive. They’re chemically resistant and won’t affect your glue’s performance. 3. Medical-Grade vs. Industrial-Grade Always use medical-grade adhesives with at least 95% purity. Cosmetic or industrial-grade glues are not designed for use on skin or near the eyes. 4. Hydroquinone and Carbon Black Are Safe in Small Amounts Hydroquinone prevents the glue from curing in the bottle. Carbon black gives it color. Both are safe in trace amounts, usually under 0.3%. Why Retention Fails (and How to Fix It) Surface Prep Lashes must be clean and oil-free. No sunscreen, no moisturiser. Use a lash cleanser before every appointment. You can also use a primer—but only if needed. Overuse can hurt retention.   Correct pH Lash adhesives cure best in a neutral pH. Natural skin is acidic. Use primer if needed to neutralise this, but don’t overdo it. Less is more.   Adhesive Quantity Too little adhesive = weak bond. Too much = clumping and slow curing. Dip just enough to create a seamless bond.   Curing Needs Moisture Cyanoacrylate cures with moisture. That’s why lash adhesive releases fumes. It’s normal. Keep your client’s eyes closed the whole time to avoid irritation.   Ventilation Good airflow helps remove fumes, not formaldehyde. The fumes are just from the curing reaction. Still, you don’t want them building up in your lash room. For more tips like this one be sure to subscribe to our email list, we send very informative and helpful emails every week, please click here.   Should You Use a Super Bonder? Super bonders are applied after lash application. They help seal the adhesive, reduce fumes, and slightly speed up curing. They don’t improve poor lash application, but they do help with retention if you're already applying lashes correctly. Lashes, Straight Isolation Tweezer, Optite Low Humidity Adhesive and Super Bonder are used in this set. To shop, please click here.   Best Practices for Glue Use Store glue correctly: Cool, dry place. Don’t leave the cap off. Shake before use: Separates the ingredients properly. Change drops every 15–30 minutes: Especially in humid rooms. Use a hygrometer: Monitor humidity and temperature for consistency. Velour Lash Adhesive, Color Lashes, Short Tip Boot Lash Tweezer and Ultra Crystal Clear Bond are used here. To shop, please click here. What About Safety Concerns? Let’s clear this up. Cancer risks? No link between lash adhesive use and cancer. Concerns come from factory-level exposure, not salon use. Pregnancy risks? No evidence supports birth defects from exposure during lash services. Bacterial growth in glue? Rare. Most adhesives contain small amounts of preservatives that prevent this. Expensive glue = better? Not always. Look at the ingredients and ask for an SDS (Safety Data Sheet), not just the price tag. Barbie Lash Adhesive and Self-Adhesive Mini Glue Tray are used in this set. To shop, please click here. How to Choose the Right Lash Glue Here’s your checklist: Main ingredient is cyanoacrylate (95%+) Minimal additives SDS and COA available Medical-grade No unnecessary fillers Barbie Lash Adhesive, Bullet Adhesive, Chloe Lashes and Noir Fiber Tip Collection Precision 90 Degree Tweezer are used here. To shop, please click here.   Retention Starts With You Retention isn't just about the glue—it’s about how you apply it, how your room is set up, how your client preps their lashes, and how you educate them on aftercare. Teach clients to: Avoid oil-based skincare or makeup. Wash lashes daily with a gentle lash cleanser. Sleep on their back if possible. Avoid steam, saunas, or hot showers for 24–48 hours after their appointment. Cashmere Noir Collection Lashes, Velour Lash Adhesive, Incredible Retention Primer, Super Bonder, Straight Isolation Tweezer are used in this set. To shop, please click here.   Final Takeaway Retention isn’t luck—it’s technique, knowledge, and control over your products and your lash room. The more you understand about lash adhesive and how it works, the better your results will be. Get your glue knowledge right, and your retention will improve—making happier clients, better reviews, and more referrals.     These tips are just a glimpse of so many things that you need to learn on how to improve your client's retention.  I have compiled all the helpful tips in our LASH RETENTION ONLINE COURSE.   THIS ISN'T ABOUT SALES TALK. by Michelle Rebay on Oct 07 2020
Starting your own lash extension business can be an exciting and rewarding venture if you're passionate about beauty and entrepreneurship. Here's a straightforward guide on how to get started, from setting up your space to attracting your first clients. New to lash photo editing? We've got you covered with our Free Lash Editing Tutorial. Click here to learn more!   Step 1: Get Trained Enroll in a certified lash extension course. Look for one that covers both theory and hands-on practice, like the 'Classic Lash Certification' that teaches single-strand lash application.   Step 2: Get Certified Once you complete your course, take the certification exam. Passing this will often give you a certificate, like the 'Certified Lash Artist' credential.   Step 3: Create a Business Plan Outline your services, pricing, and budget. For instance, decide if you'll work from home or rent a space, and list your expected costs for supplies and marketing.   Step 4: Legalize Your Business Register your business name, like 'Lush Lashes LLC', and get any necessary business licenses and liability insurance to operate legally in your area.   Step 5: Set Up Your Workspace If you're working from home, convert a room into a lash studio with a comfortable lash bed, good lighting, and sterile equipment. Ensure it's welcoming and clean.   Step 6: Purchase Supplies Buy quality lash extension supplies. Your starter kit might include different lash lengths, adhesives, tweezers, eye pads, and a mannequin head for practice.   Step 7: Price Your Services Calculate your service prices based on costs and time. For a full set of lashes, consider the cost of materials ($15), time spent (2 hours), and your desired hourly rate ($25/hour), totaling $65.   Step 8: Market Your Business Create social media accounts like 'Lush Lashes on Instagram' and post before-and-after photos of your work. Offer opening discounts to attract your first clients.   Step 9: Practice and Portfolio Practice your skills on friends and family and take high-quality photos of your work to create a portfolio, which you can show to potential clients.   Step 10: Manage Your Appointments Use a scheduling tool like 'Google Calendar' to manage your bookings. Keep track of your client appointments and send reminders to reduce no-shows.   Step 11: Provide Great Service Make sure your clients have a great experience. Offer them a comfortable lash pillow and play relaxing music during the session to ensure they leave happy.   Step 12: Ask for Reviews and Referrals Encourage satisfied clients to leave positive reviews or refer friends. Offer them a discount on their next service for every referral.   Step 13: Keep Learning Stay updated with new trends and techniques by attending workshops or webinars, like the 'Advanced Volume Lash Techniques' webinar.   For more tips like this one be sure to subscribe to our email list, we send very informative and helpful emails every week, please click here.   How to Attract Your First Lash Clients with Smart Discount Strategies Let's make this super straightforward. Ultra Crystal Bond, Lashes and Lash Wisps are used in this set. To shop, please click here.   Step 1: Know Your Numbers First off, figure out how much you need to make to cover your costs (like supplies and rent) and pay yourself. For example, if it costs you $20 for supplies and you want to earn $30 for your time, you need to charge at least $50.   Step 2: Decide on a Discount Rate Choose a discount rate that makes sense for your business but still attracts customers. A common starting point is 10-20%. Let's say you go with 15%.   Step 3: Calculate the Discount Take your regular price and apply the discount rate. If your regular price is $50, a 15% discount means you knock off $7.50 ($50 x 0.15 = $7.50).   Step 4: Set Your Discounted Price Subtract the discount amount from your regular price. With the $7.50 discount, your discounted price is $42.50 ($50 - $7.50 = $42.50).   Step 5: Time Your Discount Decide how long the discount will last. It could be for your first month in business or for the first 20 clients. Make it clear and stick to it.   Step 6: Promote Your Discount Tell people about your discount. Use social media, flyers, or word of mouth. Make sure they know it's a limited-time offer to create urgency.   Sample Discount Calculation: Original pricing: Supplies: $20 Your time: $30 Total required price: $50 Discount rate: 15% Discount amount: $50 (original price) x 15% (discount rate) = $7.50 discount Discounted price: $50 (original price) - $7.50 (discount) = $42.50 final price OR you can do $45.   Step 7: Track Your Discount Success Keep an eye on how many clients come in because of the discount and how much you're making. This will tell you if the discount works or if you need to adjust it.   Remember, discounts are a tool to attract clients when you're new. They shouldn't last forever. Once you're established, you can reduce discounts and start charging full price. Keep it simple, clear, and fair for everyone involved.     For more tips like this one be sure to subscribe to our email list, we send very informative and helpful emails every week, please click here.   CONCLUSION Starting a lash extension business requires training, planning, and dedication. By following these steps and providing examples of what each step might look like, you'll be on your way to building a successful business. Keep things clear and focused, and you'll create a strong foundation for your lash business.     Do you find this blog post helpful? Have you learned something? How Do You Deal With A No Show Client And Cancellation Policy As A Lash Artist

by Michelle Rebay on Oct 07 2020
In the lash industry, time equals income. When a client doesn’t show up or cancels last minute, it affects more than just your schedule — it hits your business. If this happens often, it creates stress, lost income, and frustration. This guide will help you: Understand why no-shows happen Set clear boundaries Create a cancellation policy that works Handle clients who break the rules Keep your business running smoothly Cashmere Noir Collection Lashes, Incredible Retention Primer, Super Bonder and Bullet Lash Adhesive are used in this set. To shop, please click here.   New to lash photo editing? We've got you covered with our Free Lash Editing Tutorial. Click here to learn more!   Still struggling with anime lashes? This mini tutorial will show you the exact mapping, curls, and techniques to make them easy and bold! Click HERE.   What Counts as a No-Show or Late Cancel? No-show: The client books but doesn’t show up and doesn’t contact you. Late cancellation: The client cancels less than 24 hours before the appointment. Last-minute reschedule: Same-day changes can still hurt your income if the spot goes unfilled. Why Clients Don’t Show (and What You Can Do) 1. They Forgot Even good clients can forget. Solution: ✅ Use automated reminders by text or email✅ Send reminders 24–48 hours before the appointment   2. They Don’t Take It Seriously If there’s no penalty, there’s no reason to respect your time. Solution: ✅ Set a strong cancellation policy✅ Require a deposit before booking   3. Life Happens Emergencies and illnesses are real. Solution: ✅ Allow one-time exceptions✅ Be human, but stay consistent with your rules How to Write a Lash Artist Cancellation Policy (Step by Step) Your policy should protect your time and be easy to understand. Use simple rules. Here’s how to build one: Step 1: Set a Time Limit Decide when clients can cancel without a fee. Most lash artists choose 24 or 48 hours before the appointment.   Step 2: Define the Fees Set fair but firm charges: Within 24 hours: 50% of service No-show: 100% of service or loss of deposit If they paid a deposit, apply it toward the fee.   Step 3: Automate Agreement Use booking software to show your policy and require agreement before confirming appointments.   Step 4: Post It Everywhere Put your policy: On your website In your Instagram bio or highlights On booking confirmations On your studio wall or welcome card People need to see it multiple times. Why Deposits Help Requiring a deposit makes clients commit. It filters out those who are unsure and helps you avoid wasted time. Most lash artists ask for: $20–$30 flat deposit, or 30%–50% of the service total Use systems like GlossGenius, Square, Fresha, or Vagaro to make it easy. How to Handle a No-Show (Without Losing Your Cool) Even with a strong policy, no-shows may happen. Here’s what to do:   1. Stay Professional Don’t take it personally. Business boundaries protect your peace.   2. Send a Polite Message Here’s a simple message to use: “Hi [Name], I noticed you missed today’s appointment. As per my policy, a missed appointment may result in a fee or forfeited deposit. Let me know if you’d like to rebook. Thank you.” 3. Enforce the Policy Don’t make exceptions unless it’s truly needed. One exception can turn into a habit. 4. Decide if You’ll Rebook If a client no-shows twice, it’s okay to say no to future bookings. Protect your calendar. What If They Complain? Clients may push back on fees. Here's how to respond: “I understand your frustration. My policy is in place to protect both your time and mine. I appreciate your support and understanding.” You’re not being rude — you’re being a business owner. Keep Your Schedule Full (Even With Cancellations) Some tips to protect your income: Use a waitlist so you can fill open spots fast Post last-minute openings on Instagram stories Offer small discounts for off-peak hours (if needed) Track which clients cancel most and adjust who you book Final Thoughts: Your Time Has Value As a lash artist, your skill is valuable — and so is your time. No-shows and late cancels are part of business, but you don’t have to accept them without a system. With a clear cancellation policy, respectful communication, and the right tools, you’ll build a strong business and attract the right clients.     Do you find this blog post helpful? My parents expected me to be up there, having a career like a doctor, a lawyer, or an engineer. However, I chose to be a Lash Artist and didn't make anyone impressed by my decision. Many days I wonder if I'm good enough. Or why do people look up to me for inspiration? Some days, it's hard to inspire me to keep going, but I do. Despite the ups and downs, I always keep my head up and keep going because all that matters is that I am happy.   AN ARTIST INSIDE ME I've been working up the courage to post something for a while. But the thoughts were like a tornado in my mind. People don't want to see that. How embarrassing. I have family and friends who follow me. " Other lash artists seem to find the perfect home life balance and can accomplish so much more in short amounts of time. "My lash sets are still not perfect 100% of the time."I get better every day. I am far from perfect, and so is my work, but that's ok because I try to be better for myself and my clients. You are all these things, too, and you hold your own story. Your message is helping others, whatever the message you decide to share.I may not be the person everyone expects me to be. But then, I became a person who follows my heart's desire, and I am grateful to people who show support for me all the way. To our lash community, follow your heart's desire.   CONCLUSION Becoming a lash artist can be one of the most rewarding decisions you'll ever make. As a lash artist, creating a stunning set of lashes requires precision, skill, and a strong partnership between artist and client. In this blog post, we'll explore essential tips on how to become your lash artist's favorite client, ensuring a seamless and enjoyable experience for both parties. Straight Isolation Tweezer, Precision Volume 90 Degree Tweezer, Hydro-gel Under Eye Patches, Ultra Crystal Bond, Lashes and Lash Tile are used in this set. To shop, please click here.   New to lash photo editing? We've got you covered with our Free Lash Editing Tutorial. Click here to learn more!   For this blog, I would like to share some of the characteristics of my clients that, for sure most of you can relate with. These are the clients that we wanted to give the best client award (just kidding). Let’s go through the list, shall we? This blog is for humor purposes only. Let’s not get too serious with life. Classic Lashes Wispy Lashes 0.15 C curl 8-15mm and Velour Lash Adhesive are used in this set. To shop, please click here.   Communicate Clearly Express Your Expectations: Before the session begins, have a clear idea of the look you desire. Share inspirational photos and communicate your expectations with your lash artist. Discuss Any Allergies or Sensitivities: Ensure your safety by informing your lash artist about any allergies or sensitivities you might have.   Arrive With a Clean Slate Remove All Eye Makeup: Arriving with a clean face, especially around the eye area, allows the lash artist to start the application process immediately, ensuring better adherence of the extensions. Avoid Caffeine Before Your Appointment: Caffeine can make your eyelids twitch, making it difficult for the artist to apply the extensions accurately.   Practice Good Hygiene Shower Before Your Appointment: As you’ll need to avoid water around the eyes for the first 24 hours post-application, taking a shower beforehand is advisable. Avoid Strong Fragrances: Some artists may be sensitive to strong scents, so it’s considerate to avoid wearing heavily perfumed products. Be On Time Respect the Artist’s Schedule: Arriving on time shows that you respect the artist’s schedule and ensures that you receive the full allotted time for your appointment.   Take Care of Your Lashes Follow Aftercare Instructions: Proper aftercare not only prolongs the life of your lash extensions but also shows your lash artist that you value and appreciate their work. Book Regular Refills: Maintain your lash extensions by scheduling regular refill appointments.   Be Honest and Provide Feedback Share Your Thoughts Post-Application: If you’re unhappy with any aspect of your lash extensions, communicate this to your lash artist in a constructive manner. They appreciate the opportunity to correct any issues and ensure your satisfaction. Positive Reinforcement: When you love your lashes, don’t hesitate to express your gratitude. Positive feedback and referrals are invaluable to a lash artist.   Show Appreciation Tip Generously: If you’re pleased with the service, show your appreciation through a generous tip. Refer Friends: Word of mouth is a powerful tool in the beauty industry. Referring friends to your lash artist is a fantastic way to show your support.     WANT TO BE NOMINATED FOR THE BEST CLIENT AWARD? Start the conversation with “price” or negotiating in the first two sentences. Be sure to ask about the silk and mink. Make an appointment for 8 am, then change the appointment to three, but finally, do not show up, and don’t pick up the phone. You come 40 minutes early the scheduled time to make chit-chat. Come with the girlfriend/boyfriend/mother/child/dog/squad. Drunk, and it looks like you wanted to invite your lash artist for more drinks. Sick to the highest level. Keep asking how much longer throughout the procedure, and then sigh very loudly. Answer your phone during the procedure and constantly ask the lash artist to check who calls or texts you. After two days, call the lash artist that you have lost three eyelashes and are now going utterly bald on your lashes. After 1.5 months, you realize that you desperately need new lashes tomorrow and start calling to schedule an emergency fill. The best time to call is in the afternoon. At this time, your lash artist is in the best mood to speak with her favorite clients. Lashes, Wispy Lashes and Ultra Crystal Clear Bond are used in this set. To shop, please click here.   For more tips like this one be sure to subscribe to our email list, we send very informative and helpful emails every week, please click here.   CONCLUSION Going to an appointment with your favorite lash stylist can be a major treat. But being one of their favorite clients is a whole different story. What’s so cool about being the favorite client? You can be sure that you will always receive the best service possible, get a particular treatment, and maybe even a discount.     Do you find this blog post helpful? Have you learned something? Quality of Products: High-quality lash extensions and adhesives cost more but provide better results and safety for your clients. Continued Education: If you've taken advanced courses or attended workshops to improve your skills, this adds value to your services. Client Experience: A comfortable, clean, and pleasant salon environment enhances the overall experience for your clients.   2. Evaluate Market Rates Research the rates of other lash artists in your area. Understanding the market helps you set competitive yet profitable prices. While you don’t have to match their prices exactly, knowing the range can guide you in setting a reasonable rate for your services.   3. Communicate Effectively Communication is key when changing your pricing. Here’s how to do it: Advance Notice: Give your clients ample notice about the upcoming price change. A 30-day notice is generally appreciated. Transparency: Be honest about why you are increasing prices. Highlight the improvements in quality, materials, or additional services. Personal Touch: Send personalized messages to your regular clients explaining the changes. This shows you value them and consider their loyalty.   4. Highlight the Benefits When announcing the price increase, focus on the benefits your clients will receive: Quality Assurance: Emphasize that the price increase allows you to continue using the best products and maintaining high standards. Enhanced Experience: If you’ve made any upgrades to your salon or added new amenities, let your clients know. Continued Education: Mention any recent training or certifications that enhance your skills.   5. Offer Incentives To ease the transition, consider offering incentives: Loyalty Discounts: Provide a discount on their next visit or a loyalty program for long-term clients. Package Deals: Offer discounted packages for multiple sessions, encouraging clients to commit to future appointments at the current rate. Referral Bonuses: Encourage current clients to refer new clients with a discount on their next service for each referral.   6. Maintain High Standards Ensure that the quality of your service remains consistent or improves. Clients are more willing to accept price increases if they continue to receive exceptional service. Focus on: Customer Service: Always provide a friendly, professional, and personalized experience. Skill Development: Regularly update your skills and stay on top of lash trends. How To Pick A Lash Curl For Your Client

by Michelle Rebay on Oct 07 2020
What is lash curl style preferred for a client with straight lashes? Which is curlier, C or D? Which lash curl is the best? Can you mix C curl and D curl lashes? When it comes to your client's eyelashes, picking the appropriate length and lash curl is very important.I often get questions from clients on which curl they should pick. Typically, I prefer the curl depending on the look they are interested in and their eye shape. Promade Organized Fans, Bullet Adhesive, Incredible Retention Primer and Super Bonder are used in this set. To shop, please click here.   New to lash photo editing? We've got you covered with our Free Lash Editing Tutorial. Click here to learn more!   With so many lash curl options available in the market, it can be challenging to find the best one for your client.Below we have listed a few things to consider when choosing a lash curl:How much lift does your client want? Will the lashes suit their eye shape? How natural does your client want the lashes to look?   Understanding Lash Curls Before we match a curl to a client, let’s understand the different types:   Curl B: It's the subtle one. Not flat, not too curly. For clients who want a ‘just woke up like this’ look. Curl C: The go-to curl. It's noticeable and gives that open-eye effect without going overboard. Curl C+: A bit more drama than C. Use it when clients say they want ‘a little something extra.’ Curl D: This one’s loud. It’s for clients who want full-on glam, the more curl, the better. Curl CC: Think of this as C’s cooler big brother. It's a tad curlier without hitting D level drama. Curl L: Got clients with hooded eyes? This one’s straight at the base and then flicks up sharply. Curl L+: Like L, but with even more lift. Great for really opening up those hooded or deep-set eyes. Curl M: It’s different – more of a swoop than a curl. It’s not common, but it’s cool for standing out.   For more tips like this one be sure to subscribe to our email list, we send very informative and helpful emails every week, please click here.   Assessing Client's Natural Lashes Your client’s natural lashes are your canvas. Here’s what to consider: Sensitive Nexcare Skin Tape and Hydrogel Under Eye Patches are used in this set. To shop, please click here.   Length and Strength: Longer, stronger lashes can support heavier, curlier extensions. For shorter, weaker lashes, go lighter and softer. Direction: If lashes naturally point downwards, a stronger curl can open up the eyes. Growth Pattern: Be mindful of lashes that grow in different directions. A uniform curl might not be the best choice here.   For more tips like this one be sure to subscribe to our email list, we send very informative and helpful emails every week, please click here.   Considering Eye Shape and Personal Style Eye shape can make or break your curl choice: Almond Eyes: Versatile! Most curls work, but C and D curls really accentuate that sultry almond shape. Round Eyes: B or C curls complement by not overextending the eye’s roundness. Hooded or Deep-Set Eyes: L or L+ curls can really open up these eye shapes. Personal Style: Always chat with your client. What’s their daily routine? Do they prefer a natural look or something more dramatic?   For more tips like this one be sure to subscribe to our email list, we send very informative and helpful emails every week, please click here.   Matching the Curl to Lifestyle Lifestyle plays a huge part: Active Clients: Consider a more natural, lower maintenance curl. Glamour Seekers: They might prefer the wow factor of a D curl. Professionals: A subtle B or C curl can be perfect for everyday wear. For more tips like this one be sure to subscribe to our email list, we send very informative and helpful emails every week, please click here.   Aftercare Tips Educate your clients about aftercare: Avoid water and steam for the first 24 hours. Use oil-free makeup remover. Gently brush them daily. Avoid rubbing or pulling.   For more tips like this one be sure to subscribe to our email list, we send very informative and helpful emails every week, please click here.   As you can see, all these curls will have different retention because the surface area the extension will adhere to the natural lash varies It's essential to master working with one curl and ensure excellent retention before moving to another lash curl. It's ideal to ensure that you do not have clients with specific lash curls coming back with poor lash retention. If bad retention occurs with a particular curl, it's essential to evaluate the surface area and practice it until the contact between the surface area is optimal. The curls with the easiest and best retention tend to be the C curl, B curl, and L + L and M curls.   For more tips like this one be sure to subscribe to our email list, we send very informative and helpful emails every week, please click here.   CONCLUSION Remember, the right lash curl is not just about the look. It's about how it makes your clients feel – confident and beautiful. Stay curious, keep experimenting, and always listen to your clients’ needs. Happy lashing!        The curls with the least good lash retention tend to be the most rounded (curly). The D curl DD and the C + are the curls with the least favorable retention.   For more information on how to work with lash curls, please click here.    If you have any questions or you want some additional tips and tricks, please leave a comment below. But, you better be sure you are doing it for the right reasons and investing in yourself as a lash artist. There are indeed lots of great opportunities out there for lash artists who want to make some money. Can You Do Eyelash Extensions On A Pregnant Woman

by Michelle Rebay on Oct 07 2020
As lash artists, we get all kinds of questions from clients, but one that comes up a lot is: “Can you do eyelash extensions on a pregnant woman?” Whether you're expecting or planning to, you probably want to know if it's safe to keep up with your lash game. Let us break it all down for you!   The Quick Answer: Yes, But With Caution! Yes, you can definitely get eyelash extensions while pregnant, but there are a few important things to consider for your safety and comfort. It’s all about making sure the experience is both safe and comfortable for you and your little one.   Understanding Pregnancy and Eyelash Extensions Pregnancy can bring a lot of changes to your body. Your hormones are all over the place, which can make your skin, hair (and yes, even lashes) react differently than usual. Some women find their lashes shed more, while others notice no change. Everyone’s experience is different!  Bullet Adhesive, Promade Volume Fans, Dolphin Shaped Curved Tweezer, Super Bonder, and Incredible Retention Primer are used in this set. To shop, please click here.   That being said, lash extensions are still totally possible during pregnancy, but here's what we need to think about: Russian Volume Lashes, Elite High Humidity Adhesive and Disposable Eye Lash Brushes are used in this set. To shop, please click here.   1. Allergic Reactions and Sensitivities During pregnancy, your body can be extra sensitive. Even if you’ve been getting lash extensions for years, pregnancy might make you more likely to experience irritation or allergic reactions to the lash adhesive. If you’ve never had lash extensions before, we always recommend doing a patch test before your first appointment. The same goes for pregnancy, especially since sensitivity levels can change during this time.   As a lash artist, here are a few different ways you can approach it: Apply a small amount of eyelash extension glue to the most distal lashes' outer corner of the eyes. Apply a small amount of eyelash glue behind one of the client's ears. Skin is susceptible there, so it would be pretty obvious if a client were to react. Apply 3-4 lashes on the outer corner of the client's eyes to evaluate if the patient is to experience a reaction. Wait for 24HRS. Wait for 24HRS and if there is no reaction, proceed with the application. If the client refuses the patch test, have them sign a liability waiver, meaning they accept the responsibility if they react to the eyelash glue. Gel Under Eye Patches, Eyelash Extension Ballet Slippers Tape and Lash Tape are used in this set. To shop, please click here.   2. Lash Adhesive Fumes Some lash adhesives contain fumes that can cause mild irritation to the eyes or nose. While these fumes aren’t typically dangerous, pregnancy can heighten your sensitivity to smells, making them more noticeable or uncomfortable. If you're worried about this, you might want to ask your lash artist to use a low-fume, sensitive glue to reduce any discomfort.   3. Comfort During the Appointment Let’s be real—getting lash extensions means lying down for a while, and that can be tough when you’re pregnant, especially as your belly grows. Laying flat on your back for too long in the later stages of pregnancy might feel uncomfortable, and in some cases, it can restrict blood flow.   Make sure your clients are happy with your bed setup, especially if you're lashing pregnant women. The lash bed is designed to be as comfortable as possible to use a bed topper or a lash pillow depending on the client or service. Curved Lash Bed Mattress Topper, and Velour Luxury Lash Bed Cover are used here. To shop, please click here.    TIP: Offer repositioning breaks. The client should be on their side, especially after 20 weeks of pregnancy.   4. Pregnancy and Lash Retention Hormonal changes can affect the strength and growth cycle of your natural lashes. Some pregnant women might find their lash extensions don’t last as long as they used to. You could experience weaker retention, meaning your extensions might shed quicker than usual. While this won’t affect the health of your natural lashes, it’s something to keep in mind so you can schedule touch-ups a bit more frequently.   5. Using Hypoallergenic Products Pregnancy is all about being extra cautious, and we totally understand! To be on the safe side, it’s a good idea to use hypoallergenic lash adhesives and gentle aftercare products. These options are designed to be kinder on sensitive skin and less likely to cause any allergic reactions.   6. Is It Safe for Baby? This is the BIG question on every expecting mama’s mind, and the answer is: Yes! The products we use for lash extensions are safe and don’t contain harmful chemicals that would put you or your baby at risk. Just make sure your lash artist is using safe, professional-grade products.   Tips for Pregnant Clients During Their Lash Appointment: Talk to Your Lash Artist: Always let your lash artist know you’re pregnant. They can adjust products or techniques to make the experience safer and more comfortable for you. Take Breaks If Needed: It’s totally okay to ask for a break if you feel uncomfortable or need to stretch. We understand and will make sure you feel as comfortable as possible during your appointment! Stay Hydrated: Being well-hydrated helps you stay comfortable during your lash appointment. Plus, your body needs extra fluids during pregnancy anyway! Consider Shorter Sessions: If a full set seems like too long to be lying down, you could ask for a half set or shorter fills more often. It still gives you that lash love without the longer session time.   When to Avoid Lash Extensions During Pregnancy: While it’s generally safe, there are some instances where you might want to skip lash extensions for a bit:   If you have serious skin sensitivities: Pregnancy can make your skin more reactive, so if you’ve had trouble with products in the past, it might be best to wait. If you're experiencing morning sickness: Lying flat for an extended time might make you feel more nauseous. In this case, it’s okay to take a break from extensions and come back when you feel better.   Conclusion So, can you get eyelash extensions while pregnant? Absolutely! Just remember to communicate with your lash artist, use sensitive or hypoallergenic products, and make sure you’re comfortable throughout the process. Lash extensions are a great way to keep feeling fabulous during pregnancy, even when everything else feels a bit out of control! If you have any concerns or specific questions, don’t hesitate to talk to your lash artist. We’re here to help make sure your experience is safe, fun, and comfortable for both you and your little one.   Have more questions about getting lash extensions during pregnancy? Cluster Lashes vs. Premade Fans vs. Promade Fans: A Lash Artist's Guide

by Michelle Rebay on Oct 07 2020
For lash artists, understanding the differences between cluster lashes, premade fans, and promade fans is essential to providing tailored services to clients. Each option has its specific characteristics, benefits, and applications. This guide breaks down the distinctions to help lash professionals make informed decisions for their work.   New to lash photo editing? We've got you covered with our Free Lash Editing Tutorial. Click here to learn more!   Cluster Lashes Definition Cluster lashes are groups of multiple synthetic lash fibers knotted at the base. They are often applied in clusters rather than individual lash extensions.   Application Process Typically attached directly to the natural lashes or the lash line. Adhesive is used to secure clusters, often requiring minimal skill compared to other methods.   Key Features Available in various thicknesses and lengths. Designed for quick application and temporary wear.   Benefits Speed: Faster to apply than individual lash extensions. Cost-effective: Less expensive than custom lash fans. Beginner-friendly: Suitable for lash artists with limited experience.   Drawbacks Weight: Heavier than other options, which can strain natural lashes. Longevity: Shorter lifespan, typically lasting up to a week. Health risks: Increased potential for damage to natural lashes due to the heavy load.   Ideal Use Cluster lashes are best suited for short-term events or occasions where clients need quick, dramatic results.   Premade Fans Definition Premade fans are pre-manufactured lash extensions featuring multiple lash fibers bonded together at the base. They are ready to apply, eliminating the need for hand-creating fans during application.   Application Process Applied individually to the natural lashes using adhesive. Requires moderate skill to ensure proper placement and isolation.   Key Features Fans come in various dimensions, including 2D, 3D, 4D, and beyond, indicating the number of lash fibers in each fan. Uniformity ensures consistent volume.   Benefits Efficiency: Reduces application time compared to handmade fans. Consistency: Pre-made fans maintain uniformity in volume and appearance. Accessibility: Ideal for lash artists who want to offer volume lashes without advanced volume-training certifications.   Drawbacks Cost: More expensive than creating fans manually. Retention: Adhesive bonding at the base can be bulkier, affecting retention and causing potential discomfort. Customization: Limited flexibility compared to handmade options.   Ideal Use Premade fans are suitable for lash artists looking to save time while providing clients with consistent, high-quality volume lashes. Straight Isolation Tweezer, Precision Volume 90 Degree Tweezer, Hydro-gel Under Eye Patches, Ultra Crystal Bond and 6D Pre-made Volume Fans 0.07 are used in this set. To shop, please click here   Promade Fans Definition Promade fans, also known as "pro-made" fans, are handcrafted fans created in advance by the lash artist or purchased pre-made. Unlike premade fans, these are bonded without heat or adhesive at the base.   Application Process Applied individually to the natural lashes with adhesive, similar to premade fans. Requires higher skill to ensure proper placement, isolation, and retention.   Key Features Custom-made using lash strips, offering flexibility in creating fans that suit specific client needs. Lightweight and natural in appearance.   Benefits Retention: Better adhesion and longevity due to no pre-bonded adhesive at the base. Customization: Greater flexibility in achieving tailored results for each client. Natural look: Lightweight design reduces strain on natural lashes.   Drawbacks Time: More time-intensive to create, especially if handmade during application. Cost: Higher price point compared to cluster and premade fans. Skill requirement: Requires advanced training and experience.   Ideal Use Promade fans are ideal for clients seeking natural, long-lasting volume lashes and for lash artists focusing on premium, tailored services. Promade Fans, Ultra Crystal Bond, Super Bonder, and Incredible Retention Primer are used in this set. To shop, please click here.   How to Choose the Right Option Assess Client Goals: Determine if the client prioritizes longevity, comfort, or cost. Skill Level: Match the lash type to your expertise. For example, beginners may prefer cluster lashes, while advanced artists can offer promade fans. Budget Considerations: Factor in the cost of materials and your desired service pricing. Time Constraints: For faster services, cluster lashes or premade fans may be more practical. Bullet Adhesive, Promade Volume Fans, Dolphin Shaped Curved Tweezer, Super Bonder, and Incredible Retention Primer are used in this set. To shop, please click here.   For more tips like this one be sure to subscribe to our email list, we send very informative and helpful emails every week, please click here.   Conclusion Each type of lash—cluster, premade fans, and promade fans—serves a specific purpose in the lash artist’s toolkit. By offering the right solution tailored to individual needs, lash artists can ensure repeat business and maintain a strong reputation in the competitive lash industry.       Be sure to follow ThousandLashes on our social media - Facebook, Instagram, Pinterest and YouTube for helpful lash tips and tricks.    Anyone needing lash support or lash tips and tricks? Benefits Of Eyelash Extensions

by Michelle Rebay on Oct 07 2020
If you’ve ever wanted long, full lashes without the daily hassle of mascara or fake lashes, eyelash extensions might be the perfect solution for you! As lash artists, we help clients achieve beautiful, natural-looking lashes every day. Here, we’ll explain what eyelash extensions are, why people love them, and answer some common questions you might have. Let’s dive in! Volume Lashes mix curls D, CC, and C and Velour Lash Adhesive are used in this set. To shop, please click here.   New to lash photo editing? We've got you covered with our Free Lash Editing Tutorial. Click here to learn more!   What Are Eyelash Extensions? Eyelash extensions are tiny fibers that we attach to each of your natural lashes, one by one. They aren’t like strip lashes that you can apply and remove in a day; eyelash extensions stay on for weeks! Since each extension is carefully glued onto an individual lash, the final look is full and seamless. Classic Lashes Wispy Lashes 0.15 C curl 8-15mm and Velour Lash Adhesive are used in this set. To shop, please click here.   Benefits of Eyelash Extensions There are lots of reasons why people love lash extensions. Here are some of the main benefits: Saves Time With lash extensions, there’s no need to apply mascara or fiddle with false lashes every morning. You wake up looking ready to go! This saves time in your daily routine, especially if you’re busy. Customized to Your Style We work with you to choose the right length, curl, and thickness to match your style. Whether you want a natural look or something more dramatic, we can create the perfect set just for you. Long-Lasting Beauty Eyelash extensions can last for 4-6 weeks with the right care. That’s over a month of stunning lashes without any extra effort! Many people come in for "fills" every 2-3 weeks to keep their lashes looking fresh and full. Boosts Confidence Lashes make a big difference! With fuller, darker lashes, your eyes stand out more, and this can boost your confidence. Many clients tell us they feel more put together with extensions, even without other makeup. Safe When Applied Professionally One question we get a lot is, "Are eyelash extensions safe?" Yes! When applied by a trained lash artist using quality products, extensions are very safe. We use a gentle adhesive made for sensitive areas around the eyes, so you can feel comfortable with your extensions.    Common Questions About Eyelash Extensions Get answers to the 10 most common questions about eyelash extensions, from safety and care tips to how long they really last. Bitter Sweet Color Lashes, Optite Low Humidity Adhesive, Super Bonder, and Incredible Retention Primer are used in this set. To shop, please click here.   1. Is It a Good Idea to Get Lash Extensions? If you love the idea of longer, fuller lashes and want a lower-maintenance beauty routine, lash extensions are a fantastic choice. They’re great for everyday wear or special occasions.   2. Is It Healthy to Get Your Lashes Done? Yes, when done by a certified lash artist, extensions are perfectly safe. We take care to protect your natural lashes and use gentle, high-quality products.   3. Are There Any Side Effects of Eyelash Extensions? Most people have no issues with extensions. If you have sensitive eyes, let us know so we can use products that are gentle for you. Sometimes, people with allergies to adhesives may feel minor irritation, but this is rare.   4. What Is the Lifespan of Eyelash Extensions? Extensions last about 4-6 weeks, shedding naturally with your own lashes. To keep them looking full, regular "fills" every 2-3 weeks are recommended.   5. How Are Eyelash Extensions Different from False Lashes? Unlike strip or individual false lashes that you apply temporarily, eyelash extensions are professionally applied to each natural lash and last several weeks. They provide a more natural look and feel, without daily removal.   6. Can I Shower or Swim with Eyelash Extensions? Yes, but avoid water and steam for the first 48 hours after application. After that, they’re safe for showering and swimming, as long as you gently pat them dry afterward to maintain their bond.   7. Do I Need to Avoid Certain Skincare Products with Extensions? Yes, avoid any skincare products with oils, especially around the eyes, as oil-based products can weaken the adhesive. Look for oil-free cleansers and makeup removers to extend the life of your extensions.   8. How Long Does an Eyelash Extension Appointment Take? A full set application generally takes between 1-2 hours, depending on the desired fullness and lash type. Fills usually take about 45 minutes to an hour.   9. Can I Get Eyelash Extensions if I Have Sensitive Skin? Many people with sensitive skin can still enjoy extensions, but it’s important to let your lash artist know beforehand. They may use a sensitive adhesive to reduce any risk of irritation.   10. Are There Different Types of Lash Extensions? Yes, lash extensions come in different materials, including synthetic, silk, and mink. Each type has a slightly different look and feel, and your lash artist can help you choose the best one for your desired style.   11. Can I Remove Eyelash Extensions at Home? It’s best to have extensions professionally removed to avoid damaging your natural lashes. Lash artists use a special remover to dissolve the adhesive safely and gently.   How Do Eyelash Extensions Work? During an appointment, we attach one extension to each of your natural lashes using a special adhesive. This process takes time—typically around 1-2 hours—but we do it carefully to ensure a safe and beautiful result. When extensions are applied correctly, they won’t damage your natural lashes.  Organized Pro-made Fans, Hydrogel Under Eye Patches, Collagen Lip Mask, and Velour Lash Adhesive are used in this set. To shop, please click here.   How Are Eyelash Extensions Applied? Consultation: We start by talking about the look you want—whether you’re going for something subtle or bold. Preparation: We clean your lashes and place a gentle gel pad over your lower lashes to protect them. Application: Using tweezers, we carefully attach each extension to one of your natural lashes. Final Check: Once your extensions are in place, we check that everything looks balanced and beautiful.   Tips for Taking Care of Your Eyelash Extensions Taking proper care of your eyelash extensions can make them last longer and keep them looking full and beautiful. Follow these simple yet essential tips: Super Bonder, Incredible Retention Primer, Ultra Crystal Bond, Cashmere Noir Collection Lashes, and Lash Wisps are used in this set. To shop, please click here.   Avoid Water for the First 48 Hours After getting your extensions, keep them dry for 48 hours. This allows the adhesive to fully set, helping your lashes stay in place longer. Stay Away from Steam Avoid hot showers, saunas, and steam rooms in the first two days. Heat and steam can weaken the glue, making extensions fall out sooner. Be Gentle with Your Lashes Try not to rub or pull on your eyelash extensions. Gentle handling is key to keeping them intact. Avoid Sleeping on Your Face Sleeping with your face pressed into the pillow can bend or twist your extensions. Try sleeping on your back to protect them. Use Oil-Free Cleansers Oil-based products break down the lash adhesive. Stick to oil-free cleansers to keep your lashes safe. Brush Your Lashes Daily Use a clean lash brush to gently comb your lashes every day. This keeps them looking neat and prevents tangling. Avoid Waterproof Mascara Waterproof mascara is hard to remove and can damage the adhesive. If you need mascara, use a water-based one on the tips only. Skip the Lash Curlers Lash curlers can crimp or damage extensions. Your extensions should already have a curl, so no need for extra curling! Be Cautious with Eye Makeup Use minimal eye makeup, and always go for oil-free products. Heavy makeup around the eyes can be tough to remove without damaging your extensions. Remove Makeup Gently Use a soft, oil-free makeup remover and a gentle touch to avoid pulling on your extensions. Pat Your Face Dry Instead of rubbing your face with a towel, pat it dry gently. Rubbing can loosen the extensions. Limit Exposure to Heat Keep your face away from direct heat sources, like ovens or fireplaces. Excessive heat can weaken the adhesive. Book Regular Lash Fills Schedule touch-ups every 2-3 weeks. Fills keep your extensions looking full by replacing any lashes that have naturally shed. Avoid Products with Glycol Some skincare products contain glycols, which can break down the adhesive. Check labels to ensure they’re safe for extensions. Keep Your Hair Away from Lashes Hair products like hairspray and dry shampoo can get on your lashes and affect the adhesive. Cover your lashes or shield them when using these products. Clean Your Lashes Regularly Gently clean your lashes with a lash-friendly, oil-free cleanser every few days to remove any dirt or oils. Avoid Wearing Strip Lashes Wearing strip lashes over extensions can damage them. Stick to just your extensions for a full, natural look. Minimize Sun Exposure Prolonged exposure to sunlight can cause the glue to weaken. Wear sunglasses when outside to protect your extensions. Don’t Pick or Pull If you notice a loose extension, resist the urge to pull it out. Let it fall naturally, or have your lash artist remove it. Follow Your Lash Artist's Aftercare Advice Every lash artist has their own aftercare tips, so follow their recommendations for the best results.   For more tips like this one be sure to subscribe to our email list, we send very informative and helpful emails every week, please click here.   Why Eyelash Extensions Are Worth It Lash extensions might seem like a treat, but they’re truly a game-changer. They make it easy to wake up looking polished and save time in your beauty routine. Whether you’re preparing for a special event or just want to simplify your mornings, lash extensions can give you the look you’ve always dreamed of. Proper Hygiene: How to Sanitize your Lash Room And Eyelash Tools

by Michelle Rebay on Oct 07 2020
As a lash artist, keeping your lash room and tools clean is one of the most important things you can do to ensure your clients’ safety. Proper hygiene prevents infections, cross-contamination, and maintains a professional, comfortable environment. In this guide, we’ll walk through the best practices for sanitizing your lash room and cleaning your eyelash tools, especially your tweezers. Curved Lash Bed Mattress Topper, and Velour Luxury Lash Bed Cover are used here. To shop, please click here.    New to lash photo editing? We've got you covered with our Free Lash Editing Tutorial. Click here to learn more!   Why Hygiene is Crucial in a Lash Room Your clients trust you with their eyes—a delicate and sensitive area. Failing to clean your tools or sanitize your workspace can lead to infections like conjunctivitis (pink eye) or other irritations. To avoid these issues, it's critical to establish a regular cleaning routine that covers everything from your lash bed to your tweezers. Curved Lash Bed Mattress Topper, and Velour Luxury Lash Bed Cover are used here. To shop, please click here.    How to Properly Sanitize Your Lash Room 1. Clean Work Surfaces After every client, wipe down your work area, including the lash bed, chair, and tools, with a disinfectant spray. Use hospital-grade disinfectants to kill any bacteria or viruses on surfaces. This helps maintain a clean environment and ensures that clients feel safe.   2. Clean the Floor Daily Lash extensions and adhesive particles can fall to the floor during appointments. It’s important to sweep and mop the floor daily to keep the room free of dust and debris.   3. Maintain Good Ventilation A well-ventilated room is essential, especially because lash adhesives can release fumes. Make sure to open windows or use an air purifier to keep the air fresh.   4. Disinfect All Tools and Accessories Even if a tool doesn’t come into direct contact with the eyes, it still needs to be cleaned. For instance, jade stones can collect glue residue, so it’s important to wipe them down with alcohol after each use. If excess adhesive is present, acetone works well to dissolve it.   For more tips like this one be sure to subscribe to our email list, we send very informative and helpful emails every week, please click here.    How to Remove Lash Glue From Tweezers Over time, lash glue can build up on your tweezers, making them difficult to use. Here’s how to clean them effectively: Use a Sponge Ball Cleaner: Submerge your tweezers in a cleaner liquid and pinch the sponge ball inside the bottle several times to loosen the glue. Spin the tweezers around inside the bottle so the sponge makes full contact with the tool. Madame Tweezer Cleaner and Hearts Diamond Grip Oblong Tweezer are used here. To shop, please click here.   Wipe Off Excess: After cleaning, wipe off the extra liquid from the tweezers before taking them out of the bottle. If there’s stubborn glue that won’t come off, soak the tweezers in the solution for two minutes and then clean again. Precision Volume 90 Degree Tweezer and Short Tip Boot Lash Tweezer are used here. To shop, please click here.   How to Disinfect Your Lash Tweezers Because tweezers come into direct contact with your clients’ eyes, it’s crucial to disinfect them thoroughly between each client. Here’s the process you should follow:   Step 1: Wash Your Hands Before you start cleaning your tools, make sure your hands are clean. Scrub them with soap for at least 20-30 seconds, making sure to cover every part of your hands.   Step 2: Clean Tweezers With Soap Use soap and water to remove oils and debris from your tweezers. You can use your fingers, a sponge, or a lash spoolie brush to scrub them clean. Pay close attention to every part of the tweezers, ensuring no dirt or glue is left behind.   Step 3: Disinfect With Barbicide Barbicide is a powerful disinfectant commonly used by lash artists. It’s concentrated, so you need to dilute it with water: Mix the Barbicide with water according to the instructions on the bottle. Use a disinfectant tray to soak your tweezers in the Barbicide solution for 10-15 minutes. Make sure the tweezers are not piled together—lay them flat so that every surface is disinfected.   Step 4: Clean Protective Covers Don’t forget to disinfect the protective covers of your tweezers! Fill a small container with isopropyl alcohol, submerge the covers for a few minutes, then rinse with water and let them dry on a clean paper towel.   Step 5: Rinse and Dry Tweezers Thoroughly After disinfecting, rinse the tweezers thoroughly under running water to remove any residue. Dry them using a clean paper towel, making sure to get in between the tweezer arms to remove all moisture. This is important to prevent water buildup, which can lead to bacteria growth.   Step 6: Store Tweezers Properly Once your tweezers and their protective covers are completely dry, store them in a clean, designated container. Make sure to place the protective covers on the tweezers to avoid contamination and damage.   Find out how to clean your lash tweezers the right way—click here.   Extra Tips for Maintaining Hygiene Use Multiple Sets of Tools: Since disinfecting tweezers takes time, have multiple sets of tools so that you always have clean, disinfected tools ready for your next client. Replace Disposable Items: Never reuse single-use items like eye pads, mascara wands, or glue rings. Dispose of them immediately after use. Wash Hands Regularly: Always wash your hands between clients to prevent the spread of germs.   Final Thoughts on Lash Room and Tool Sanitation Proper hygiene in your lash room is not just about keeping things clean—it’s about ensuring your clients’ safety and maintaining a professional reputation. By following these steps, you’ll create a safe, sanitary environment that clients can trust. Clean tools, especially your tweezers, should be a top priority. Regularly disinfecting your space and tools will help you provide the best service possible while protecting your clients' eyes from any potential harm.      Do you find this blog post helpful? ( limited time only )   Why Are Wispy Lashes Popular? Wispy lashes have become a top choice for many clients because they look natural yet full. They provide more volume than classic lashes but aren’t as dramatic as volume lashes. This makes them perfect for clients who want a fuller lash line without going overboard. Velour Lash Adhesive, Promade Fans and Lash Wisps are used in this set. To shop, please click here.   HOW TO DO WISPY LASH EXTENSIONS? I like to apply the spikes 2 wisps to 1-2-3. Then I fill them in with the same order. I generally like to do the middle last because it’s much easier and has easier visibility generally. Cashmere Noir Collection Lashes, Lash Wisps, Velour Lash Adhesive, Lash Tape and Hydro-gel Under Eye Patches are used in this set. To shop, please click here.   Some tips for beginners that you will surely learn so much. Wispy lashes will eventually cater to so many clients and you’ll surely earn so much money. It is very hard to master without the right training, you need to practice at least on 20-30 clients to start feeling comfortable with the look.   STEP #1  It is very important to wash or clean the lashes before you start your lash application to remove any oil and makeup that will cause retention issues. Apply primer to the lashes of your clients as a pre-treatment for eyelash extensions to ensure better retention. Lash Foam is used in this set. To shop, please click here.   For more information on how to apply and the benefits of using lash primer, please click here.   STEP #2  Take your time when putting on lash patches. Ask the client if they feel any pinching or discomfort when they close their eyes. While their eyes are closed, gently lift the tape or pads to readjust. Micro-Foam Under Eye Patches is used in this set. To shop, please click here.   STEP #3 I like to apply the wisps first, before filling up the lash base with the fans. This is a personal preference, but I find it is much easier for a beginner because it’s a complicated lash look. By mapping out all the lash wisps first it makes everything much easier, you can think of it as laying out the foundation before building a house. Hydrogel Under Eye Patches, Lash Tape, Lash Extension Medical Tape, Lash Wisps, Isolation 45 Degree Lash Tweezer and Straight Isolation Tweezer are used in this set. To shop, please click here.   When working with wispy lashes and direction, be very careful. Because the wisps are longer, if you make a mistake in this step, it will be quite visible. It will be helpful if you gently direct the lash wisps with your tweezers as you place them, making sure they are all at 90 degrees from the natural lashes. Place the wisps from the bottom up to ensure that your client's lashes last as long as possible. The only exception is when the lash grows toward the top, in which case the lash can be applied from the bottom. Never apply extensions on the side.In classic sets, it can look good, but never in volume mega volume sets. It is because the density of the lashes in the base will take over and the wisp will just disappear. Hydrogel Under Eye Patches, Ultra Crystal Bond, Lashes and Lash Wisps are used in this set. Lashes, Lash Adhesive Cure Aid and Precision Volume 90 Degree Tweezer are used here. To shop, please click here.   You can use pre-made spikes. Lash Wisps and Dolphin-Shaped Curved Tweezer are used here. To shop, please click here.   Use pro made wispy lashes fans with the spike already integrated into the fan. STEP #1 Gently wipe the entire lashes using a micro swab. This makes the lashes slightly wet.     Lashes and Lash Adhesive Cure Aid are used here. To shop, please click here.   STEP #2 With your tweezer, carefully pull at each visible slight indentation. It's like finding a tiny gap to separate and create a wisp. Dip the lash in adhesive and slide it through the flower cup. This process crystallizes the lash, helping it to harden and maintain shape. Lashes, Lash Adhesive Cure Aid and Precision Volume 90 Degree Tweezer are used here. To shop, please click here.   Dip the prepared lash in a small amount of glue and attach it to the natural lashes. This keeps the wisp closed and in place.  Strive to maintain a classic lash appearance. You can aim for about 7-10 spikes per eye. Lashes, Lash Adhesive Cure Aid and Precision Volume 90 Degree Tweezer are used here. To shop, please click here.   Many lash artists have their preferred style. Some go for a fuller look, while others, like myself, opt for a more natural, softer appearance.   TIP: You can practice on a sponge. This will ensure you really master direction and get your wisps the perfect size in length as well as width. Place the wisps first Then fill in the base with fans   For more tips like this one be sure to subscribe to our email list, we send very informative and helpful emails every week, please click here.   wispy lash extensions before and after Wispy eyelashes include a variety of lashing techniques, lash types, and forms, it's best described as lashing freestyle. Lashing professionals create a spikey appearance with uneven eyelash extensions by using varied lash lengths that gradually rise and fall over the eyes.  This is what gives most lash artists difficulty when it comes to wispy eyelash extension mapping. There are various wispy lash mapping styles that you can do to achieve the wispy effect look. It’s a unique way of planning as to which lash goes where.    The base of the lashes is written in white. The wisps are in black. Cashmere Noir Collection Lashes, Lash Wisps and Velour Lash Adhesive are used in this set. To shop, please click here.   Lash map of a very natural lash mapping we created, you can recreate the same lash set for your clients, experiment with colors and curls, let your creativity flow: Cashmere Noir Collection Lashes and Velour Lash Adhesive are used in this set. Start by identifying high spots, which will be where the spikes will be placed. This way, you'll be able to imagine the appearance you want right from the start. If your client doesn't have any special requests, we don't recommend using the same length lashes for all of the spikey tips.  Start with an 11-12mm spike for the first one, then move up to 13-14mm for the second one, and finally 16mm for the final one. The highest point of the eye can be in the middle or near the outer corner.  The first will widen the eyes, while the second will give it a feathered appearance. Which one you choose is totally determined by the client's preferences and the form of their eyes. So the wispy lashes / Kim K lashes are applied using specific wispy lashes mapping, which gives that wispy, uneven lash line. This type of styling is great for girls that love to wear a lot of makeup and have a very bright outgoing personality. For exceptional events, we recommend the Kim K style / wispy lashes. This look can definitely be adjusted to fit a more low-key personality or lifestyle, by making it a shorter length or making the contrast between the wisps a little less pronounced. This style can also be reproduced in classic as well as hybrid styles for girls that want a more low-key look.   For more tips like this one be sure to subscribe to our email list, we send very informative and helpful emails every week, please click here.    WHY DO WE HAVE TO DRAW DOTS ON THE EYELIDS? Lash Wisps, Velour Lash Adhesive, Lash Tape and Hydro-gel Under Eye Patches are used in this set. To shop, please click here.   Although you already have mapping on your tape, I would highly recommend drawing dots on the eyelids, as well. In fact, when you move the tape or remove the patches in the middle of the lash set, your mapping can easily get lost. When you are done with the lash set and start removing the tapes or patches, the dot will still be there to check if everything is symmetrical and even once the client opens her eyes. The tendency of the tapes and patches to move during the procedure of lash extensions makes them not the most reliable place to put the mapping. Since tape and patches stretch, the mapping can easily be ruined. Having a backup system ( drawn dots indicating the mapping ) this system will allow for a helpful way to stick to the original mapping. Lash Wisps, Velour Lash Adhesive, Lash Tape and Hydro-gel Under Eye Patches are used in this set. To shop, please click here.   For more tips like this one be sure to subscribe to our email list, we send very informative and helpful emails every week, please click here.   HOW TO CORRECT EYE ASYMMETRY WITH WISPY LASHES? The tip to correct the asymmetry, if for example the left eye is visually lowered than the right eye, you can make the lengths on the left eye used for the wisps 2-3 mm longer than the right eye. This will end up correcting the asymmetry and visually lift up the left eye to the same level as the right eye.   For more tips like this one be sure to subscribe to our email list, we send very informative and helpful emails every week, please click here.    WISPY LASH EXTENSIONS CARE Wispy lash extensions necessitate extra attention and are time-consuming to maintain. To ensure that the lashes last longer and are in good condition, gentle care is required. Client retention and lash artist reputation are both dependent on effective aftercare. Hydro-gel Under Eye Patches, Ultra Crystal Bond, Cashmere Noir Collection Lashes and Lash Wisps, Incredible Retention Primer and Super Bonder are used in this set. To shop, please click here.    Take care of your wispy lashes. Avoid rubbing or pulling them. Keep the extensions dry for 4 to 6 hours after the lash appointment. All oil-based products should be kept away from the lashes. The oil will cause the adhesive to break down, which will lead to lash extension loss. No lash perming! No saunas, facials, or swimming in the pool within 4-6 hours of lash application. Avoid poking your head into the oven if you're baking. It's capable of burning your extensions! Turn your head away from the oven when putting something in or taking something out. Instead of trying to remove the wispy lashes on your own, book an appointment with your lash artist. After getting wispy eyelashes, brush your lashes on a daily basis. Brushing takes care of the majority of issues. Brush your lashes gently if you see anything improper with them.   For more tips like this one be sure to subscribe to our email list, we send very informative and helpful emails every week, please click here.    Watch this lash extension tutorial video and learn more about wispy lashes.   CONCLUSION Finding clients who are interested in trying out a new look and surprising them with new lashes with wisps is something I would recommend.
